Sounds like garbage in a clean solid state. I tried it on my Roland JC-40. Solid state clean amps need pedals that create their own distortion.

That sort of pedal like the Centaur, TS, Boss SD-1, Zendrive always sound better when going into something already overdriven (an amp of any sort or into another OD/Dist pedal).

Thanks for watching! I had bass down to like 9 o clock. Mids down to 11 o clock and treble at 1 o clock.

Great video. Would you pair this with a Boss SD-1 for gain stacking? If not what cheap pedal would you choose to go alongside the sd-1?

Thanks! Yeah it could work w an SD 1 in lower gain settings. I would probably put the sd1 first. But I think a boost going after is better. Or maybe a fuzz pedal before it to give it some sizzle.

I have been pairing the Tauren with a Waza Craft Blues driver and it is fantastic. I keep the gain on the Tauren at around 8 or 9 as a slightly dirty boost…great combo for finger style blues…cleans up and gets dirty really well.

Which Joyo OD out of this one , the tornado , or the King of Kings blasphemy pedal would you get out of 3 ? If only one . Listening to your vids , I like this one best but it’s hard to tell from a KZbin vid . Please advise

Hmm good question. I really love the Tornado for vintage style tones. It has a bit of sag and love the boost option. King of Kings is amazing but is a very specific sound. The Tauren is not a very high gain pedal but has amazing overtones into a cranked amp. It cuts through the mix the best. Sorry that doesn't answer your question. I love them all! Haha but the tone is the biggest diff between all of them. All can do low gain, leads, edge of breakup etc. the Tauren is also the smallest footprint on the board of that matters.

Pedal needs a mod, no real rich OD like 4:43 unless using to overdrive a valve amp.

Tauren is lower gain and tons of headroom. Really smooth, not a ton of low end or low mids. King of Kings has gain for days and lots of tonal shaping options. Lots of low mids if needed. Really crunchy.

It definitely sounds better than it looks. I think that is a big deterrent for people. If they upped their design game I think they would be really popular

Nice looking pedals are cool but personally I'd rather have an ugly one that sounds good then a nice looking one that sounds crappy. The new Caline G series pedals look pretty cool and colorful, but most of them are not great pedals. Meanwhile I have some plain looking pedals that are awesome.
