Doesn't it? This series has had me interested in the Arcade scene for a long time, but as an RPG-centered player, none of the gameplay ever interested me much. But now it's finally time! And I can't wait!

Unpopular opinion, I would love to see a FFVIII remake.

Would you want this remake to "fix" some of the common complaints the game gets with a second go-round? Or would you prefer a more faithful remake, warts and all?

It definitly deserves a remake for reasons like fixing the story, the characters and to properly built up Ultimecia instead of rather twist villain her when Adel was getting all the built up early on and large portions of the game resolve around her. And maybe some redesigns for Quistis and Selphie would be neat too, they really look like last minute additions and from what I know they have been designed quite late for the game in compare to Zell, Squall, Seifer or Rinoa.

I'm excited for Octopath Traveler 1 getting a PS5 release but I'm disappointed it's digital only. I'm hoping it gets a physical release later. I would be very excited for Final Fantasy IX remake and a remaster for FF Tactics.

I'm hopeful that we'll see them show up on Play-Asia, a lot of Square Enix digital exclusives turn up physically there for Asia regions, and have English localization options. :)

This seems pretty disingenuous. The nvidia leak was like 3-4 years ago, and it's been highly accurate for pie in the sky projects that people wouldn't dare to believe were true. FF9 is just another one that was on the list. I guarantee either it still exists or was canceled, because it was on there and thus was in the works at some point.

I agree, I feel like FF9 remake rumors have become the new FF7 remake rumors. People will keep sharing them until Square caves to the pressure and it becomes true.

Feel like I should wear my Hype responsibly shirt today. Feeling good about the strategy RPGs! Dark deity was all right. I enjoyed it but I only played it on steam and that's not my cup of tea personally. I would back them for console. I know the first one you can pickup digital. Speaking of digital, epic sales for that octopath huh?! 😂

"Oh yeah also on XBOX" not just that Derek, but it's also on GAMEPASS. I am actually playing through the 2nd one on PS5 already (38% done) but seriously I own an XBOX Series S for the sole purpose of GAMEPASS. There are a LOT of RPGs that end up there on both console and PC and a ton of other cool games. And rumors are there will be something for fans of the 360-era JRPGs coming during the XBOX Showcase. Before anyone tries to start something... I own all the systems. Only thing I have skipped on over the years from the "big three" is the XBONE. I love video games and don't really care what system they come on, as long as people get to play them. Cancelled games hurt my soul. I am still bleeding HP from the cancellation of the Highlander game from the 360... Oh and you already know ONE badass Otaku...

I 100% believe in the nvidia leak everything in it came true, and we have people like 100% trusty midori even confirming it about ff9 remake AND we had Matsuno (the director of original final fantasy tactics and ogre tactics) himself on twitter talking about IF they worked on a ff tactics again should they X,Y and Z etc. Anyone who dont think these two are real now are living in LALA land. Now with Square-enix restructure and saving money etc sure, ff tactics might be off the table for a while but if FF9 has been worked for a long time and the success with ff7 remake- I feel very confidant it coming next year.

Those digital discounts you've been hearing about only come when you wait for a sale. Keep your eyes out and you can find some good games for under $20. It's how I woke up one day to discover I have over 100 PS4 RPGs in my backlog. But regular price for digital games usually stay the same. I'm guessing 6 months to a year before we see some Octopath discounts. I never put much faith in console versions of RPG Maker. The console edition will undoubtedly put severe limitations on creating your own art for your game, especially on a Nintendo console. So all its games will look pretty much the same and lose a lot of creativity that can be expressed on computer.

'Otaku' is a Japaese term for, essentially, 'anime/manga/videogame nerd' but is _highly_ stigmatized in Japan, and is kind of seen as degenerate or perverse, whereas in the West we've sort of adopted the term in a more positive light. Sorry for not explaining that in the story, I've been immersed in the culture so long I must have taken that knowledge for granted. 😊

I can't be excited for remakes of FF9 and Tactics. FF7 Remake and Rebirth are absolutely awful to me. They are totally different from the original in story and in gameplay. Having grown up with remakes like the GameCube versions of Resident Evil 1 and Metal Gear Solid 1, I just can't get behind this new way of "remaking" games where they blatantly disrespect the original. If they show more care in accurately recreating these games correctly, that's one thing. I guess I don't understand what the point of these remakes are. As someone who's played the original versions of so many games being remade in recent years, if I want to re-live these experiences they need to be accurate to the original. A "new" experience is literally counter to the point of playing an old game that I love. And for the new crowd who never experienced these games, they still haven't experienced them if they're playing the modern remakes because so often they just are a different game entirely. None of it makes any sense to me

It sounds like the FF9 Remake will be closer to the Trials of Mana remake in terms of graphics, and will also be turn-based. I'm hoping this bodes well, but we'll just have to wait and see. Because that Trails of Mana remake was 🔥

@SuperDerek Now that actually sounds much more in line with something I'd like. I never played the original Trials of Mana, but I really liked the remake. Clearly, faithful remakes are still a thing, as the ones for Spyro and Crash Bandicoot were pretty accurate. I'm just a bit of a curmudgeon at this point 🤣 "Damn kids and your remakes! Get out of my media room!" ..... or some such.

@kclink1579 Not remakes? It's in the title. I'm not sure how a complete retelling of the story that makes massive changes is supposed to be a sequel. Nothing you've said makes any sense. People hadn't spent the last couple of decades asking for a sequel. They wanted a remake. It is absolutely disrespectful to the source material to tell a wholly different tale. It's also exceedingly disrespectful to those who have been waiting for the remake so they can experience the story for the first time because they still aren't getting it accurately. I'm not impacted by it that much because I can just go play the real version, but it's stupid to be like "Hey, now modern gamers can get the story of FF7", but then specifically NOT give them that story. The people making the new versions have completely changed and misinterpreted the character of Sephiroth. Though, to be fair, the maniacs that wrote the abominable Advent Children kind of started that ball rolling a long time ago.

Well I’m excited, I loved rebirth and remake - there are flaws and missteps, but the love and attention shown to the characters and world was wonderful.The combat was a lot of fun for me too. Rebirth is already one of my favourites and in my top 3. It’s a shame you didn’t like it and I can understand some people were put off with the multiverse stuff and really disappointed with some of those flaws. But the ff9 remake is going to be very different and not so drastically changed if reports are true, so it’s not going to be like rebirth and remake.

What the heck? Metal Slug Tactics? I love the animation in the original Neo Geo I wonder if they'll go all out on it in that game and from the bits I seen in the preview they are well animated. Huh? The Final Fantasy XI not dead yet? You mean that mobile port that was going to be single player is rumored not to have been cancelled when it was officially cancelled? Huh? I dunno but honestly Square needs to make Final Fantasy XI be able to be single player and offline so it can play like Final Fantasy 12 since it took its inspiration from it (minus the gambit system) so everybody can experience that awesome game with its awesome storylines. I don't give a damn about the Yaluza series anymore after what Sega pulled recently with Last Dragon. I will refuse any piece of garbage company slowly turning into evil companies like EA, Ubisoft and more towards their fanbase with how they release games so this means no more Sonic for me either. Sailin them High Seas if I really want to try them highly doubtful tho with my backlog. 🏴‍☠🦜
