My choice was to use Roger. I asked around my former classmates and colleagues and there was some Wiley, Becker, and Roger. Those who used Becker did so because they got it for free from their employer or thought the most expensive option had to be the best. Vis versa, those who used WIley told me they did so because it was cheaper. Those who used Roger said that they actually enjoyed his lectures and like the testing functions within the program. Moreover, a few people said they couldn't help but hear his voice and memory aids while actually sitting down to test. I did a week trial and felt like it was the best course for me. I like to listen to podcasts while working, so instead, I just turn the lectures on and listen to them passively throughout the day.

I passed AUD in the last week of my 18 month window (I already passed all other 3 sections). So glad that it’s over. No more CPA exams for me. LOL. Nate, I use Surgent. I originally got it for the price but I felt the videos did not give me enough to pass the exam. After failing FAR, I bought a textbook from Yaeger CPA Review and that worked for me since I passed FAR soon afterwards. What I liked about Yaeger is that the book follows the AICPA blueprints one by one so each area that can be tested, is for sure covered. I passed AUD using the same method. Yaeger book and Surgent's MCQs and Sims.

I heard wiley has less questions(still a lot) but it is more understandable. So I want to try wiley course. I am also good fan of your cpa review notes!! It helped a lot organize huge study materials!
@SuperfastCPA5 жыл бұрын

I am still unsure, which review should I choose. 1) Gleim - MAYBE, but I am afraid of overwhelming material. No mobile version, only flash cards in the most expensive. 2) Roger - MAYBE, but I don't like his book. I think it focuses on memorizing instead of on explaining. 3) Wiley - YES??? It looks quite perfect for me, but it's expensive (I just missed a huge discount) and it doesn't have audio, which you can download and listen to while driving. 4) Yaeger - NO - Their books look like short notes, too less exercises and I don't like his accent (I'm not an English native speaker, so it's important for me). 5) Surgent - NO - I don't trust this system. 6) Becker - NO - Too expensive. I'm very surprised because a lot of people say that Wiley doesn't have too much explanation in books, but I think it and Becker have the most complete books. The most important for me is a printed book. Any advice? [I can be wrong I saw only trial versions of these courses.)
@ericeandco4 жыл бұрын
I think Wiley has the best books if you want to make sure you address everything. Some people prefer less. But the most important part of any review system is the test bank. I know both Wiley and Gleim gave detailed answers to the questions and had plenty of different questions. They also sell these products separately as supplemental learning products. Sounds like you like Wiley. If it’s too expensive to get the whole package you could look at purchasing a section at a time. FAR and Audit are pretty big sections. Either one of those may take a while before you feel confident to sit.
@4real8834 жыл бұрын

Access till you pass is key. I’ve used a couple of courses and no one course checks all the boxes. I’ve been out of school a long time so I thought lectures would be key. I found they weren’t as helpful as I thought they’d be. I need to see them working the problem and explaining. Advice, simplifying steps would be helpful. Reading the entire book to me drives me nuts. I also found I spent far too much time on them. You need to work problems and simulations till you can’t stand it because that’s what you’re going to do on exam day.
@SuperfastCPA4 жыл бұрын
Agreed and that's a good point - "Unlimited Access" doesn't mean exactly the same thing on every review course.

Previously, you recommended Rogers CPA for me as I have been out of school for about a year, and you mentioned his high energy video lectures would benefit me. I did consider Rogers. I forecasted to my Top 3: 1. Becker 2. Rogers 3. CPAExcel. I was getting ready to purchase Rogers. What pushed me away from it, same goes with CPAExcel, was their credit check and financing. An APR from 10-30%. Wiley offered a 0% if paid within 6mo. I am currently in escrow and adding on debt was no option. And I didn’t want my credit to be checked. I then looked at Becker. Becker offers direct finance on an ETF/ACH with no interest. They only charge an app fee $125, no credit check. Low monthly payments of $166/mo Vs Rogers at around $230ish/mo. The down fall is the app fee. Ultimately, I made my decision based on my current situation being in the middle of escrow. Becker seems to be doing the job, hence, the videos can be boring...sometimes I think about when is this lecture going to be over...don’t get me wrong, the instructors give good thorough info and explain each topic...but it does get boring.

Thank you posting the video. I would like to get back into passing the CPA after working for over 20 years or so. I have an undergraduate degree in Accounting in 1994 and went to work in a private company doing basic bookkeeping such as : A/R collections and lockbox posting, A/P issuance of checks, and general bookkeeping. I couldn’t fully study the accounting courses such as: Intermediate, cost accounting, tax and auditing only b/c I was not sure what I wanted to do. Had to deal with an illness, but now back on track. And I am now working full time and I feel I need to learn more accounting knowledge for the next job. I am rereading the book Financial Accounting to refresh my memories. I am not sure how to go about preparing for the CPA test since I have been out of the study mode for many years. Would anyone have any helpful suggestions? Thank you.

Try the free trials to all the review courses you’re interested in. Pick your two favorites and then look for discounts. You should be able to find 20 to 30% off. If it’s still too expensive to get the 4 part packages look at buying a section at a time. They may or may not have access till you pass. You’ll want a big and varied test bank with detailed answers. If your program doesn’t have that you’ll want to buy it separately.
