I remember being blown away from this song as a kid! It was like an orchestra was coming out of my N64. Pretty impressive to fit a piece like that and many others on that tiny cartridge, and still get them to sound good.

So many Ant heads i have collected, so many creatures i have slaughtered while this masterpiece of a track was playing in the background. It was such a great game; no dlc required!

Amazing how the N64 had better music than a lot of "advanced" consoles we see today like the Xbox 360 or One and PS3 or 4. The games are also more challenging and fun. Also, no load times.

i mean to be honest Jet force controls where absolute ass witch made the game alot harder than need be. good game weighed down by terriable controls. hell jet force overall isnt a hard game overall just time consuming cause of haven to collect all the space ship peices get gold on every flood race and rescue every tribal not hard to do jsut time consuming
@joshuajackson565610 ай бұрын
@coolchrisable I attempted to play it once, but the controller was one of the most challenging I've ever used. However, I don't think it holds candles compared to Batman Forever, Winter Games, and Dark Castle. I saw the AVGN review those and understood the pain of games with bad controllers. Spiderman and the Sinister 6 was awful, too(I actually played that one).

Nostalgia. This game was so damned good. You didn't expect it to be as good as it was when it came out either.

I dunno, but the track record of Rare was ridiculous at the N64 times. Every game they released was great. And all had a great soundtrack! Incidentally, I have been working on a remix of this one ^^. I think it works. drive.google.com/file/d/1BjSVELOy3c5Q15cX4N27LQL3fpz-jC6q/view?usp=sharing

Same, I loved the aesthetic and the epic sci-fi vibe of the game. I remember being amazed how gory and dark the game was.

Only thing that's always bothered me about it w-... well, 2 things actually. 1. When you're fighting a boss and you die, you respawn in the beginning of the boss fight. Not in the area right before the boss fight, but IN the fight. However, you don't get back the ammunition you spent during your previous attempt, meaning you have to defeat the boss with whatever ammo you have or you have to reset the game and start back over from scratch, as it autosaves the game at the beginning of the fight. For that reason, I've never once completed the game, cause I can't defeat Mizar on my 1st or 2nd attempt and past that, the required ammo to stand a chance is gone. 2. The Floyd missions (might be misspelled, too lazy to check). I don't mind them, it's a creative idea. My problem with them is that you MUST not only complete certain Floyd missions to move forward in the game at all, but you must complete them PERFECTLY and they're hard as fuck. In fact, I last tried to play through the game again last year and had to quit, cause of that dang Floyd mission you have to ace to get the uh... ear plugs, I believe it was. If they'd just made you respawn at boss fights completely fresh with the ammo you had initially going in and they'd made it so that you just had to get silver (or even gold) on the Floyd missions to advance the game as opposed to platinum, OR if they'd made the locations less of a maze (visual memory is my worst memory and on the one I always get stuck on, the visual is extremely grainy as well, making it really hard to even see where you're going), it would've been a perfect game in my opinion. All that said, I still really love it. Definitely on my top 3 favourite N64 games. That's why those 2 things frustrate me as much as they do :/
@BlueAmpharos Жыл бұрын
@@VelkanAngelsah I agree with those flaws, especially the Floyd mission controls. Couldn't get a perfect platinum on the Goldwood one so I didn't actually 100% the game but I got close. Want to add the tribal quest to that, as saving all of them is required for the true ending and since they have to be saved in one go or it doesn't count, so a lot of areas it's pointless to try before you get everything. For example, there are ones you can't save in the tribal village in Goldwood until you get the tri-rocket launcher to destroy the doors.

This is one of those tracks that really shows you just how ambitious Rareware was with this game. There's so much scale to it, and the loop is extremely long for the time period. It makes me wonder what a reality would be where Nintendo kept Rareware under their wing, or if Microsoft got to them a few years sooner and had them develop Jet Force Gemini as a 3rd-person, more kid-friendly counterpart to Halo.

I received this game as a gift for Christmas not long after it came out. Loved the N64, loved video games in general…. But then I played JFG, and I don’t recall my thoughts exactly but I knew that this game was the fucking truth. Then it went on to get almost entirely overlooked. Shame. But it will always have a special place in my heart
@0rnery0verwatch Жыл бұрын
Yeah DK64 and all the other Rare games (Perfect dark, too) completely overshadowed this one, but this was a great game. It just caught a bunch of flak because of the "collect all the tribals" quest required to fully finish the game. Some players just can't stick it out😅

3:23 - 4:20 best part, I love the slow buildup with the big payoff. Music is right in time with your character's footsteps too; it feels so tense, like you're trapped on the ship with Juno.

@0rnery0verwatch Жыл бұрын
It wasn't *that* bad lol, if you held down the R button, you could continue moving around using the C buttons while aiming. That is legit how I played through 80% of the game and it made it really fun and had me hooked until the very end, even after collecting all the Tribals.

The N64 didn’t have FPS’s figured out yet. No one really did yet.
