I think it's important to see that Sawyer didn't want to be with Alex because 'those kinds of relationships never work'. She wants a long relationship... also she just had her heart broken and probably isn't in a good head space. Not saying she's perfect, but she was pretty graceful in letting Alex down.

Many lesbian fans of the show have seen themselves in Alex and her situation with Maggie. I've watched many reactions and practically all of them have said how realistic this coming out has been and how Maggie not jumping into a relationship with Alex also hits home. I believe they'll end up together, Having them be in a relationship right after Alex came out wouldn't be realistic is what I've been hearing by those who've gone through it so they really appreciate how the writers have dealt with this. Having Andrew Kreisberg who's gay himself deal with the storyline is definitely why it's so incredibly relatable to gays and lesbians. He himself has said he wanted it to be as realistic as possible. Great reaction as always guys. Oh and I have to thank you for your great reaction videos because I've watched many this past week which has been a shitty one to say the least. The election result first off then my own personal shit with my uncle having a severe stroke it's been one kick to the heart after the other. I mentioned how great you girls are to you on Twitter Brittany and I meant it. From the reaction to the legends episode dealing with civil war to see how excited you get when you ship someone on these shows no matter if they're straight gay or lesbian. I did some research and found where they got the connection between Jimmy Olsen and The Guardian. The first Guardian was in the 1940s and he was basically DCs answer to Captain America. They killed him off after the war but brought him back as a clone in the early 1970s. Here is the connection...the second Guardian defected and joined Cadmus, so Jimmy Olsen briefly became the third Guardian. The second Guardian disappeared after having a run in with a certain government agent named Amanda Waller.

James Harper appears in the Supergirl episode "Manhunter", portrayed by Eddie McClintock. In this episode, Harper is a colonel in the United States Marine Corps, and arrives with Lucy Lane to investigate the disappearance of Hank Henshaw and his subsequent replacement by the Martian Manhunter. At the end of the episode, Harper tries to take both the Martian Manhunter and Alex Danvers (DEO agent and foster sister of Supergirl) to be experimented on at Project Cadmus only to be thwarted by Supergirl and Lucy Lane. At the end of the episode, Martian Manhunter erases Harper's memories of the event and learns that Alex Danvers' father is also at Project Cadmus. The Guardian suit is like the MkII Iron Man suit... the MkII didn't have any paint on it at all, it was just the base metal. The Guardian suit was slightly rushed into use by Jimmy & Winn. Winn probably planned on giving it some colour but the situation meant that they had to act before the paint was added.

all my predictions have been right so far, James would be Guardian and Mon-El would get kidnapped by the badguys. Though I like the idea that the homeless guy's plan didn't relied on Mon-El stooping down to help him out and that he was just there to sneak up behind him when he walked past, so he must have been like "shit shit shit, I'm blown" when Mon-El turned around to face him then was like "wait I can do this. STRIKE!"

i think Winn just surpassed Cisco in the superhero suit making department this episode. That Guardian suit he created for James was legit!! especially being just a prototype (with the retractable sheild, the bombs, voice changer and being lead lined to keep his ID protected from supergirl)...he looked like captain america and robocop rolled into one. all it needs now is that coat of paint...right brittany? ;)

I love Jimmy as Guardian. Normally, I can't stand any incarnation of Jimmy Olsen. But I like the look of the suit, and he's got moves. He held his own against Parasite pretty well. So I'm into it. And the helmet not being gold isn't an issue for me. Oliver Queen changes his suit every season. The Flash changed his symbol. In fact, the only main superhero who hasn't changed their suit in any way is Supergirl. So it's not a big deal that Guardian's helmet is gray for now.

Also, Jimmy Olsen has had a ton of superhero aliases over the years: Speed Demon, Elastic Lad, Genie, Wolf-Man, Giant Turtle Man, Human Porcupine, Flamebird, Steel Man, and Ultra Olsen. So him being Guardian doesn't bother me in the slightest. And, in the comics, there have been three people known as Guardian. I love Young Justice as much as anybody, but if that is what you measure other character appearances by, you're going to have a skewed perception of what they should be; because even Young Justice didn't get everything right on a lot of its characters.

In the "Golden Age" Superman comics Perry White had "Super Cigars" which could temporarily give him superpowers. As for Jimmy Olsen being the Guardian it should be kept in mind that the CW does not have an unlimited budget. Using an existing actor for the Guardian saves money and will not bother the overwhelming majority of Supergirl viewers (Sorry Brittany).

Guardian actually makes sense as Jim Harper was part of the comic "Superman's pal Jimmy Olsen" with the Newsboy Legion. It's certainly better than Jimmy's other super identities (Turtle boy, Elastic Lad, Flamebird, etc.).

1. PROTOTYPE SUIT. Winn said he didn't have time to make it fancy, but James made him give it so he could help with Parasite. 2. Guardian is NOT a "big superhero". Only reason most people know him now is because of Young Justice. Let the CW do their own spin on the Guardian lore. Just like Flash does their own spins while respecting the source. 3. Believe me, once I heard the news that Jimmy was becoming Guardian I was very much "What the fuck CW", but after watching this episode, I'm totally all for him being Guardian. 4. How exactly did Maggie lead Alex on? From my understanding, she assumed Alex was wanting to "hang out" because she was "angling for something". Meaning she wanted to be with Maggie. Everytime Alex tried to "cheer up" Maggie, Maggie "shot her down" so to speak. Complete opposite of "leading someone on". P.S. Sorry if all of that came off as aggressive, but it's only 1 episode and you're already hating Jimmy as Guardian. At least give him a chance before deciding it's the worst thing in the world.

I'd be okay with James being Guardian, since I don't know anything about Guardian, but he just decided out of nowhere that he wanted to be one. This should have been teased in the earlier episodes. Also, I like the suit. I don't give a damn if the helmet is silver, the suit (in YJ, which is all I know him from) just looked like a police officer with a gold helmet and shield.

Hey guys. Have you ever noticed science in comic book 📚 tv 📺 shows are always off. Like in the latest episode it says supergirl can see the lead in the pool. But it’s not lead. It’s a chemical that mimics lead poison not lead itself. Then on top of that supergirl can see through lead. The particulars per million would be so high she couldn’t see through the pool 🏊. Let alone the water. I know it’s not important and it’s just a show. But I love science 🔬 and when they get it wrong it bothers me. Btw Love ur channel keep up the good work. Well, it's kind of a double standard because over on Arrow, "Artemis" is definitely NOT Artemis. Evelyn Crawford (Sharp) is supposed to be Starling. I have no problem with this because Supergirl has so far handled the Guardian story much better than Arrow has done with Artemis.

I was 98% sure Jimmy Olson was going to be Guardian but the 2% thought maybe they'll do a deep cut and make him Steel (but I really didn't think so; not when they had Guardian available.) but when he came out in that suit I was like "?!?!?!!????? STEEL?!?!" then he said "Guardian" and I somehow felt disappointed. I don't like the suit much but they have time to update it. Winn did say it wasn't ready.

I'm an old-school superman fan so in terms of Jimmy Olsen being guardian that never happened but there have been instances in the comics where Jimmy Olsen has gone through several phases of want to be more then just the side character The reason I have no problem with him being guardian is I think they might stick with the Cadmus clone storyline and I think the show is making mon El superboy because if I remember correctly he has more powers then what he has now

It's going to be interesting to see how they make MonEl Superboy. Because in almost all iterations of Superboy he's cloned from Superman and Lex Luthor's DNA. Which is why he has strength and durability, but not flight or heat vision. I was never a huge Superboy fan, so I don't know how he eventually learns to fly and stuff, pretty sure that was all post-Crisis retconning of the character to give him a flaw so he's not just a knock off Superman.

Bruce Wayne has more than enough money to effect lasting change in Gotham through public works and politics but he chooses to spend literally billions on tech to help him better beat up poor and/or mentally ill people. Oliver has similar issues but in his case he's actually attempted to do those things. And he also keeps losing his fortune. Tony stark has similar issues but in recent iterations they have attempted to clean us his image by making him the free and clean energy guy. But yes this is a big glaring issue with this archetype

I don't think they screwed up The Guardian! I mean what were they supposed to do? Have Jim Harper show up as CADMUS' clone trooper stooge? Do the whole Captain America copycat origin story line that Joe Simon introduced the character with cause he was pissed at Marvel and Jack Kirby? Granted, Guardian's armor and shield should be golden and the whole 'scary voice' deal has been done to death. Maybe Winn and Jimmy will figure out that they should ditch the scary voice and dark grey look after this whole vigilante killer deal. Make him more of a friendly, positive role model. Jimmy's Guardian resembles the Manhattan Guardian from Grant Morrison's Seven Soldiers series. That one was an African-American ex-policeman who worked for a newspaper as their officially sponsored superhero. Look on the bright side ladies. In the comics whenever Jimmy tried to be a hero it ended up something really goofy like Mr. Action, the Human Turtle or Elastic Lad! The Guardian is definite and logical step up!

John Henry Irons is more like Iron Man than anything. And there were two Guardians, Jim Harper (the great-uncle of Roy Harper) and Mal Duncan. (And a Jim Harper clone called "Golden Guardian" who was created by Cadmus to be their head of security.) But, for the most part, Guardian is just a normal guy with a helmet and shield.

i agree it wasn't a proper introduction or look, but i disagree with +Brittany Carrillo about Jimmy being Guardian, it's ok because Guardian was never "big and good," with the exception of Young Justice, Guardian has always been at best a 3rd rate hero, never a character of any importance in big events, so making Jimmy be the Guardian is actually a step up for the Guardian character not a step down.

Otherwise i did't like the racial change in the popular media. Guys just think about what if Black Panther turn to be white? Also this change was a total no reason. Jeremy Jordan's character is mutch Jimmy Olsen, why he play the role for the begining? The CW try to fix these problems to mix two characters, James and Mal Duncan (I hopes Bumblebee will apear). This is not new, in the Flash the creators also amalgam Linda Park and Kimiyo Hoshi (the female Doctor Light), and those characters only common thing was that both of them Asians. But also this is an alternative universe. I just miss the crativity to make original villains characters and not cliche storylines. Sorry.
