Why do people always insist that love stories have to be about romantic love to begin with? This kind of love story between these two, as shown in the television series is infinitely better, because it's cleaner and platonic, which's always better than anything romantic... especially for someone tempted like Alex is. If she knows you care for her as if she's your sister, she'll know she can trust you and not ask you to act up with her- thereby her "heart's safe" if you get the drift of my meaning., as is her soul. For you're not going to lead her astray.
