Superman interrupts himself with "uh" in the middle of a sentence for much the same reasons real people do - as a filler to buy time to choose the right word or phrases he wants to say to convey his thoughts. Or because he was taken by surprise and is trying to think on his feet in coming up with a response. Or because he's trying to dissemble or deceive and is trying to come up with a believable lie or cover story on the fly.

Making Mxyzptlk good-looking was done intentionally to make his "pursuit" of Supergirl charming. For example, with 50 shades of Grey's exploits with Anastasia is considered hot and romantic. I didn't learn this until long after the TV show ended, but the Batman TAS episodes "Perchance to Dream" and "A Bullet for Bullock" are direct adaptations of one-and-done issues of the comics. If I recall correctly, the latter is a bit more straightforward as an adaptation, whereas "Perchance to Dream" didn't have Mad Hatter, but a psionic meta-villain that I think was never seen after that issue. Both are good episodes from the series, and I think I kind of stumbled across the source comics while picking stuff up at conventions.

I do like the angle of Zor-El and Alura being willing to sacrifice their new lease on life for Kara's sake (which nicely mirrors the Danvers being willing to let Kara go for the same reason). This is complicated, though, by the fact that later stories established that her Kryptonian parents weren't dead at all, but managed to make it to the "Survival Zone" before Argo was destroyed (The Survival Zone is sort of like the Phantom Zone, but with fewer serial killers). So does that mean Mxy actually scooped them out of the Survival Zone and, I dunno, gave them amnesia to make them think they'd been dead? That's dark, even for Mxy. Or did he just conjure up a couple of fakes out of thin air, but he did such a good job duplicating them that the fake versions were just as noble and self-sacrificing as the real ones would've been? *Choke!* It's all so confusing...
