+BetaArtemis Your looking at it from the wrong perspective. The producers have made this a girly show, when in fact the female audience did not want that. Which is why its mostly gone down the pan. I personally like it, the shows grown on me. But I think the producers woke up to what the audience actually wanted a little to late. I cant remember the exact episode, but I noticed it was when the Martian Man made an appearance that they altered it slightly. Big improvement but by then they lost a massive amount of the original audience.

+zizoegy8460 I agree. Honestly, as much as I love these girls, I had to stop watching the video about half way. I love Supergirl (though I'm not enjoying the Kara/James ship. I ship SuperWinn) and I wish people would give it more credit and more of a chance. Lots of shows have missteps in the 1st season. Hell, only 50% of Arrow's 1st season was good and that show has taken a nose dive in season 4 (although it's never been that great in my opinion). I really hope Supergirl gets picked up for a season 2.

Brianna's too hard on Kara. I don't think Kara saves people just to "one up" Superman, but she can't help feeling like she's in his shadow sometimes. The past few episodes I feel she's becoming her own person. It's like if Rey in STAR WARS turns out to be Luke's daughter I don't want her and the audience to know until the last movie(Episode IX). The reason she's such a great character is that she doesn't have the baggage of that legacy. She's free of that at the moment.

Hmm...I much preferred B&B Videos' reaction to this episode. I'm at a loss to understand the cattiness in the reactions to Supergirl. This show is so very similar in style and tone to The Flash. Though I thoroughly enjoy both shows, I will say that the acting on Supergirl has several times provoked a genuine emotional connection to the characters, whereas The Flash has accomplished that only once.

As far as first seasons go, this show has NEVER let me down both with it's acting, the stories, the character portrayals are pretty well rounded. All in all, the fans are very excited for the inevitable second season. Also, the reactions of yours that I liked the msot were the Supergirl episodes (as well as the trailers and such)! Wow this became a rant: I agree Supergirl was almost unbearable for the most part. It all just really depends on if you like the sister/her story; she will save or break the show for you. It's it's best when J'onn is a main player, and the Winn focused episode was pretty great in terms of character story. It was also really amazing when Blake Jenner guest appeared for a few episodes as Cat's son (of course I ship him and Kara because they are married in real life and D'AAAAWWWW). The show is pretty rough, and it's really tricky to write for a character like Kara since she's so powerful, so the only thing one can really work with is her motivation. Barry has a huge motivational struggle with the universe beating him up emotionally, but he also has a consistent motivation of getting faster/better to fall back on and keep things consistent and moving in the right direction. Kara is already crazy powerful, so her struggles are all about social constructs: what people think of her, loss of/finding her purpose, her relationships with family. (Sometimes they hit the really dynamic subjects like the loss of her planet and culture, because she *remembers* it where Kal-El never did and that can be powerful, but it's irrelevant because she goes right back to her chipper/grumbly self). But here's the thing. SHE HAS SUPERPOWERS! A LOT OF THEM! Yet she puts as much stock in getting her boss coffee as she does in saving a person, except she's MORE MOTIVATED to keep her job than anything else! Her struggles are all relatable young adult things but she can literally just say SCREW IT, and FLY to an island for a week and chill. The part that got me the most on how screwed up her character motivation is was when Cat figures out Kara is Supergirl, thanks her, then tells her that Kara is wasting her potential and energy running around as her errand girl so she's going to fire her. Kara then spends the next episode trying to convince Cat she's not Supergirl to save her job, and succeed. *WHY!!!!!* WHY DO THIS!!?! *CAT*. *IS*. *RIGHT*! Kara's motivations come off as air-headed and ridiculous how much she prioritized this grunt work to superheroing. She constantly wants to find purpose and fulfillment but still puts this grunt work as equal to fighting crime! Her *realistic motives*, that Cat helps her grow as a person and not just a hero, keeping her linked to this world, humanity, and it's potential, is NOT CLEARLY STATED BUT MAKES A HELL OF A LOT OF SENCE! BUT THEY DON'T MAKE THAT CLEAR SO SHE JUST LOOKS LIKE AN IDIOT! What they need to make clear is WHY KARA CARES ABOUT EARTH! That being: her adopted sister, her friends, the potential of people like Cat Grant, those are what keeps her here. But that is hardly talked about and it's more about Kara feeling bad about figuring out her past and her mother. We need something that tethers her to us to *her* struggles in the present. That makes *her* worth watching.

Supergirl is actually a good show. It has the potential to run as long as Smallville if they play their cards right. Though to do so they would have to make the show a little more dark than what it is now and introduce more circumstances that could make supergirl lose (more kryptonite, more traps for her, her life being in danger) and more long term villains other than just the same ones popping up and the corrupt kryptonians.

When I first saw the ending to this episode I legit thought she accidently used the memory erasing kiss power from the Superman II movie. I was going to call so much bullshit like "You've GOT TO BE KIDDING." I don't ship it, but god damn it, what a way to tease a ship back to square one, have one of their minds erased right as they kind of get together. But no, it was just mind control. phew.

All this episode proved is how little chemistry she has with Jimmy Olsen! She has a lot more fun with Barry. Even the Winn Shott character has PC skills and brings humor to the show! Send Jimmy back to Lucy who he's much more compatible with. She doesn't have a sense of humor either
