THE RING! TERROR'S REALM "Nickelodeon Slime sound"

I rewatch this series every year. One episode a day during the last two weeks of October. That splort sound effect is like the nostalgic embrace of an old friend.

The menu squish sound and ‘YOU OK LADY?’ are all classic, don’t get me wrong, but honestly, my favourite thing in that intro? Giving the guy voiced by a posh white English geezer the line “LIKE HEY MAN, WHAT’S HAP’NIN HERE?” Stroke of fucking genius right there, I think you’ll agree.

@Shenaldrac7 жыл бұрын
Oh Laser Lords was fucking amazing, don't get me wrong. I was more trying to say that the original comment could also have been applied to Laser Lords, given that it used actual clay models and seemed to have fairly cheap (though deliciously hammy) voice acting.

5:16 Robert hangs up the phone, but the receiver goes missing I guess? 6:13 I liked the detail that Meg almost runs over a lady crossing the street, when she pulls to park. But then you get that awfull running animation of the police officer and all goes downhill from that point.

Wow, that is... Huh. Yeeeeah. I'm giving it the benefit of the doubt, though, since it had to cross a language barrier, then was summarized (by someone who doesn't appear to be a very good writer, at that), then likely edited by more than one completely different people on top.

The book series goes even weirder after that. It's strange but I find where as American novels and media can aim to simplify things too much for the audience, Japanese fiction and movies can go the complete opposite and be too convoluted, not bothering to filter or edit ideas.

Glad you're playing [RING]. Also funny how your right off the bat guess the twist of the third book (I don't remember if it's a twist in this game or not), where the events of previous books are The Matrix, because something something copy of the genome in the computer code oh no but which is the real world now aaaaagh and stuff. Japanese The Ring 2 ignores the books, but Rasen follows closer to the book plot (and everyone hated it, for a good reason).

The books go full Matrix, and apparently the movies (and the first couple of books) were inside of a very accurate simulation, which explains how this VHS can even exist. And in later books the virus makes it into the real world somehow. It's bizarre.

Like the character modelling is hideous and the voice acting is bad even for Dreamcast, and the sound mixing is shiiiiiiiithouse but the expressions and movements are all really fluid and nicely performed (even when they don't fit what's happening) Also do I hear the sound of the Dreamcast disc drive whirring away from time to time in this video?

You know, the Ring Faces would make for really effective horror enemies if you're really going to make a survival horror game based on The Ring. Those distorted nightmare rictuses would be pretty tense to be hunted by. Hey supergreat friend, just to give you some knowledge: In the movies, the way the main characters in the book Risen survive is by spreading the virus through other media, in the book it specifies video games, so this could be considered a side story of that, within the virtual world of the book. Cause 99% of the ring story takes place in a virtual world.
