Seven Jumps
Background: This dance is appropriate for ages 4 - 8. The dance is from Denmark and presents a sequence of movements that are added on one by one through the seven Figures. Each Figure action is help for the duration of the sustained note which varies with each repetition. This is a great dance for emphasizing listening skills, balance, and body part identification.
Formation: Single circle, dancers begin facing center. Dancers can be holding hands or not holding hands. Another option is to use a random formation where the dancers skip or step hop using in their pathway.
Movements: Skipping or Step Hops
Description:
Chorus: This movement phrase is repeated after each of the seven Figures listed below. The dance begins with the Chorus phrase. Take 7 skips or step hops on each beat and on the 8th beat end with a jump. When using a single circle, the chorus moves to the right and the dancers face center on the jump.
