One theory about The Hunter that I find interesting is from NitroRad’s review of the game. He speculates that maybe The Hunter lost his family to the broadcast systems in the city, and moved out to the forest in order to escape the radio waves, wearing a sack over his head for protection. However, he likely ended up going insane anyway from paranoia and isolation.

I read somewhere that the doctor actually really did care about his patients, but they kept dying and he desperately tried to replace their dying body parts with mannequin parts. The only patient left still truly alive is the one that we took the life support off of, and he cares so much about this one patient and is almost always trying to save his life. The reason why he was chasing mono and six around was because he was afraid they would disturb the patients' rest, and they eventually did by turning off the life support.

Basically Mono is in a time loop where he gets betrayed by Six, becomes the Thin Man after being alone for so long, then tries to stop Mono from becoming the Thin Man by separating his past self from Six, which causes a series of events that makes Six lose trust in Mono leading to the betrayal, these being Mono hiding under the bed when she was taken and smashing her precious music box in the Signal Tower, all of which leads to the "Long Live the King" moment. If the Thin Man never took Six away from Mono, she wouldn't have dropped him.

Something I noticed about thin man's attacks and boss battles is how he doesn't hurt Mono while all the other monsters try to kill him (shooting, biting, etc.) Thin man just picks him up when Mono is caught, and during the boss battle he just reaches out towards him. That probably hints at them being the same person before the game actually tells you.

Theory: Most of the enemy "bosses" are each trying to figure out ways to counter the signal. Every one of them is altering people somehow. Stuffing, surgery etc, all of these include removal/alteration of the head that seems to be most vulnerable to the signal (Edit) All of them have a motive after losing something to the signal. Hunter his family, teacher his students and the doctor could have lost his colleagues or simply be upset that he can't cure these people

i think the reason he does that is because his wife died in a prank with a sack he couldn't live without her so he taxidermized her he still felt lost so he killed himself but as we saw with the thin man the signal wont let them die so he struggled breathing due to the bullet that is forever lodged in his head trying to bring things back the way they where when he found six he found someone that has also lost someone dear to her (the raincoat kid from very little nightmares) he tried to befriend her but as she kept on running away he locked her in the basement when mono came along he was scared of losing six who wanted freedom more so tried to kill him. at the end of the game when six let go of mono six was scared that mono would also use her so she let him fall

The designers of the game have said that the beings inhabiting the LN world are all motivated by one simple desire or instinct, and I think you can expand on that concept in interesting ways. I have the impression that these creatures are all determined to keep at their old routines in spite of the fact that the world has collapsed around them. The Teacher keeps teaching, even though there's nothing left to learn and no one to learn it. The Doctor keeps treating patients, even though there aren't any cures left. The Hunter keeps taxidermising, using people when no animals are available. It's the only thing that gives them a reason to keep living - which is why they react aggressively towards anything interfering with their routines, threatening the semblance of normality they've created for themselves.

Not covered in this, but there is a few things we do have actual confirmation on. The way the bullies are described on the official website is they have no particular reason for wanting to kill and eat you. They really do just...like being jerks rather than having any deeper seated reasons to doing it. The implications are that while we do see a few who seem to be afraid of the rest of them and don't enjoy what their classmates are doing(When sneaking by a few of them, a couple are hiding or cowering from the rest), the ones that are trying to kill you, are evil simply because they want to be rather than forced or controlled. The patients of the doctor that went to him are, in fact, completely voluntarily. They aren't forced or kidnapped. They are officially stated to have asked him to conduct experiments on them for no reason other than they were bored and thought mutilating their bodies would be interesting. There's a part where when their hands are reaching if you throw an item at them, they will throw it back to you, implying this is all part of a game. While there isn't any confirmation on their reaction to the light, but my theory from what information we do have is that it's basically from their view point, just another game where they have to freeze in place in light and can only move when the light doesn't shine on them. It wouldn't be much of a stretch to assume that they don't really have an actual weakness to the light so much as just a game to play with children. That doesn't stop them from being perfectly willing to murder children just for the novelty value, but it's only my thoughts since if they are willing to have themselves mutilated for the novelty value, then playing freeze tag probably isn't too far beyond them.

Definitely a metaphor for plastic surgery and how addicted some people get to it As for the lights freezing the mannequin patients, there is an implication that they were brainwashed/hypnotised in the room with the chair and pictures on the wall in front with the light being able to flash on or off

The light may have a similar effect to the tvs that the patients recognize. Since they were volunteers and wanted to do this, they most likely had no fear of the light. Also since they still likely liked the tv’s, the light may remind them of the tv transmissions. Also I believe the hunter is still alive

They don't look actually scared of the light so I don't think they're really all that traumatized by the experience. And it doesn't inflict pain on them like it did for the shadowlings of the lady, so it really seems as if it's not so much they are weak or afraid of the light, but simply choosing to stay still, willingly. I think the same for the hunter too. I know enough about horror games to know that if you don't ever find the body, then odds are, they are probably still alive.

The hunter as well most likl is alive as well, it’s the same deal with the janitor, we never see there corpse, and their wounds seem least fatale compared to the rest. The hunter was shot with a shotgun, but the door seemed to take in most of the blow, and it looks near his stomach or lower body parts. Also he lives in the woods with who knows what kinda monsters out for blood, this is probably a “normal” midnight for him

I think that's a likely idea. Few of them actually have eyes to see in front of them so they might be conditioned to staying as still as possible. Alternately, they are officially stated to have went to the doctor out of boredom, so I don't think it's so much trauma or fear because they don't cower from the light. They just stop in place and their poses almost look like they are trying to stay still, rather than they actually have too. They don't flinch or panic from it, so my own idea, is that it's essentially just them playing freeze tag and in their minds stopping when the light shines on them is just part of the rules. They don't look especially bothered, so I dunno. Just my own little theory is that it's more or less, just another game to them. Just my own thoughts based on what we actually know for sure. I can't say if that's actually right or not, of course.

That scene where the Teacher is chasing you through the vents has got to be the most horrifying experience I've had in any game or movie. Afterwards I literally just stared down the screen with the most vicerol terror I've felt in a long time, just catching my breath for what must've been at least 5 minutes. I think the reason that part works so well is because throughout both games the vents have always been a safe space and having such a feeling of claustrophobic panic as that safe space is ripped away from you is just the best culmination of fear I've ever experienced.

Yeah and plus with it being confirm that Mono is the thin man, it makes me realize something. You know how most of the adults are disfigured and wear masks to hide their deformities? This makes me think that every kid in the series(Six,Mono, runaway kid, girl in raincoat, and those kids trapped on the maw) are most likely not affected by the tower yet. Guarantee Mono is taken by the tower, but strangely enough he isn’t deform and looks like a normal human. So judging from that, I guess if any of the kids who aren’t affected by the Tower turns out to be normal looking in the future if they can avoid it, while most of the adults we see as monsters were affected by it.

I think the Thin Man wanted revenge and freedom, but the Tower wanted Mono. Taking Six was originally the Thin Man's idea, the Tower Thing took over from there, used her as a lure to capture its favorite asset in perpetuity.

I went out of my way to get all of the achievements and one of them is once you close the door on the Doctor, you can just leave. He won't follow you, won't break through, you can just go. A lot of our first instincts was to pull the level and burn the Doctor alive, but you don't have to at all. I always thought that was interesting.

Regarding the Hunter, I personally think that he took his family into the woods to try and escape the broadcast, failing this his family became distorted and he felt he had to put them at peace. Now as we know about firing lines and firing squads the victims where sacks over there heads before they are shot. I believe the Hunter couldn’t bare to look at his wife or child while he shot them to bring them peace or he didn’t want his family to see him while he shot them so he put a sack over there head with rope around the next so it could not be pulled off, until he shot them. I believe the one hole in the sack is proof of this. Furthermore once the Hunter had brought peace to his family I believe he couldn’t live with what he had done and he couldn’t bare to look at himself, thereby wearing the sack that was once but on his family members head when he shot them, 1. To serve as a constant reminder and 2. To hide his face so he wouldn’t have to see it and to also hide his pain/shame. This is further demonstrated by showing us the broken mirrors around the house so that he wouldn’t have to look at himself. I believe he tried to replicate his family so that he wouldn’t feel alone anymore or to try and fix what he had done. Whether he is insane is to be debated, maybe he lost his sanity because of grief and isolation or maybe he isn’t insane, maybe he thinks everyone had been infected and he needs to rid the world of everyone that crosses his path to cleanse them of the broadcast towers evil.

What I absolutely Love about the little nightmares series is that every single small detail in every single chapter of both games have its own story, The piano the teacher played on. She only uses three keys , D, E,A to spell « dead » over and over again, the random pictures of multiple monsters all across both games. The hanging man at the very beginning which could be thin man who tried to stop the cycle by killing himself. So many theories that could be true. It's only conjecture that it might have been his family from what I can tell. It's entirely possible he's just a serial killer and those were the residents formerly living there. From all the gore and body parts in his forest, it shows he's murdered tons of his own species which leads to a lot of interpretations about him. Is he a paranoid survivalist who realizes the world has gone to shit and he's basically defending himself like he's a grizzled veteran in a horror movie? Is he just a serial killer murdering people for sport? Part of the fun of these minimal dialogue games is all the different interpretations people get from the characters. Though, it's important to remember that when hearing these theories including the ones I throw out, it's someone else's biased opinion because that's what they want to believe. Of course, they already have an idea of what they want to think so they use that evidence to support it. I don't think we have any actual proof confirmed yet about who the Hunter is or why he does what he does. But we can have fun guessing, can't we?

I love how faces is such an important theme across Little Nightmares. It first started with the mystery of the Lady’s face and Six’s and continued across the bosses. Now in this game, I find it interesting that there are chances where you can see Mono’s face while wearing certain hats. When we first saw Mono, we were immediately intrigued by the paper bag over his face. I love that the creators purposefully made some hats only cover about half of his face but still made it visible.

For anybody that dosent know, six betrayed mono because six recognized his face and knew he was going to be someone who hurt her in the future, so she let go, which is when mono sits in the chair, and becomes his older self, and (older) mono tries (and does) to take six, but (older) mono aggressively grabs six with no mercy at all, but he grabs (younger) mono being gentle, and also, after he grabs you he dosent do anything, he just holds you like a roblox player, no aggression, but being gentle, and thats because (older) mono was dropped by six when he was still a child, so hes seeking revenge on six, but also wants to help her in a way... though it is confusing. But if for once, six WERE to save (younger) mono, she would break the paradox and have mono and six happy together, but (older) mono faces off with his younger self, always losing, losing, and failing, and in the first chapter, every television you see is every time (older) mono tried to save six from her trauma, and make his younger self never turn into him, but failed.

I see the antagonists a little differently. A little less malicious, a little more sad. I think each of them, in their own way, is simply trying to recreate the normal life they had before the signal warped everything. Or at least comfort themselves by continuing to go through the motions. The Hunter recreates the family life he lost. The teacher replaces the students of her school - all long since run away or dead - with dolls. The doctor builds mannequin patients so that he can pretend he's still a doctor. The creature behind the curtain, on life support - I don't think that's an "experiment". It's the only thing we see in the hospital, besides the Doctor himself, that is clearly actually alive, with breath, a heartbeat, and vital signs. I think that's the last real patient left in the hospital, and the Doctor is genuinely distraught at the prospect of losing him.

Correction here, the hunter uses a shotgun, which doesn't use bullets, so it's not a bullet wound. Shotguns use a cartridge that is made out of plastic, when the gun powder is ignited, the explosion forces out small pellets. It could probably be called a bullet wound though, if slugs were used instead of pellets as a projectile.

Hunter: You forgot to mention the hunters corpses at the very beginning of the area. There’s also a grave in that area and the people in the traps look rather like mono. The Hunters face looks like a tree hollow or a birdhouse which you can see abundantly in the forest. Bullies: The hidden room with the chair looks like the one Mono transforms into the Tall man at the end.

I think the black chess king is one of the kid who got trapped. He is the only one that didn't manage to escape. Others escape leaving him behind, but later was captured by the hunter. Since he is the only one didn't escape, the teacher was forced to use the kid as the model since he is the only one there edit : this is irrelevant to my theory but i think six is also the viewers. she/he did not get power ( of absorbing someone's else power ) from the start but instead she got it from the signal tower. Why I'm saying this because the viewers also suck the life force out of Mono, same goes to six. six is now basically a living and moving but counsious ( bad spelling lol ) viewers.

Exactly. I really love how Six is portrayed as someone hardened by this cruel world. Mono is the sole reason she was trapped in the timeless void of the Signal Tower. It was Mono who let Thin Man out, despite Six repeatedly trying to pull Mono away and stop him. yeah, thats why i dont really like the whole "six is evil" idea that a lot of people have adopted. i do get it, but i feel her just being "evil" is a lot less interesting. and might not even be true. i mean, think about it. shes at most a nine-year-old little girl who likely has grown up around the absolute insanity of this world. of course she would be a bit mean and at times, cruel. its very likely all she knows. not excusing it or anything, just saying that given her situation her being the way she is is, in a way, normal. after all, there are tons of children like her in _our_ world that are in their own little nightmare. children learn from their surroundings.

So the Teacher actually reminds me of a creature from Japanese mythology called the Rokurokubi. This thing looks like a human woman, but at night the body will fall asleep while the neck grows insanely long allowing the head to roam free so it can drink the blood of, or even eat, the people it can latch its teeth into. I wouldn’t be surprised if that’s where the creators of Little Nightmares got their concept for the Teacher from.

When you finished playing the game, The Thin Man's Hat will be automatically added to the Hat Section of the Game. Meaning, you can use it the second time you play it. @@maratimis Considering that Mono is the Thin Man, the reason that he was doing all that stuff and chasing mono and six was because the only way to end the endless time loop and to prevent himself from being under control of the tower, was to stop them from going on their journey. Plus it’s pretty understandable why he would hate six so much. He wasn’t evil per se. He just wanted the loop to stop.

nah, more like an anti-hero, given that he achieves his goals at the perish of others. His goal seems justified: stop Six from betraying his younger self and escape the loop. However, he becomes sympathetic in the process. In order to find Six, he is willing to do it at the cost of other children he snatched. While it was all for a good cause, he does it at the cost of other children whom he used to help.

I don't know about anyone else but I've always interpreted the amputee character in the hospital bed to be a son or another family member to the doctor. It's the only character we see that isn't a mannequin in the hospital (seen through thr fact that they need life support like a human body would) and it's clear there's a reason he's so distressed when the life support gets turned off. I always thought maybe it's his son and he's using these other people to find ways to keep him alive without direct life support or to find a way for him to inhibit another body (like in a mannequin)

Let’s make theories or discuss: *-Why does Six betray Mono?* For one, if she didn’t want him around or wanted to abandon him, why did she reach out in the first place? It was in that moment she had made her decision. What made her make her decision? Because she recognized him as the Thin Man? Because she wanted to survive by herself? Or did she want to simply steal a little of his power? When she drops him, she brings her hands up to her head which can mean that she regrets her decision or feels remorse, or she’s just shielding her eyes from the bright screen/portal. (I wanted to give her the benefit of the doubt but I have a feeling it’s the last part) *-Thin Man going after himself and Six* I think it’s pretty obvious, he’s trying to break the time loop. But I’d like to shed more light on this. No matter who he catches, it will end the time loop. It doesn’t matter if he grabs Mono or Six. But is Mono angry at Six for “betraying” him? Or is he simply just grabbing who’s closer? I’ve seen people say that he grabbed Six because he remembered where she hid. People also debunking saying that he should’ve been able to stop himself, however it’s not that easy. He tries but he’s not strong enough to beat the young determined version of himself, and it will always be that way until the loop can be broken, but it never will be. *-Hungry Six/The first game* Just wanted to talk about this. People say she lost her soul and she eats to try and replenish the emptiness coming without having a soul. People also say that when she was captured by the Thin Man or grabs Mono, she steals a little bit of his power, causing her to no longer be human, becoming a little nightmare. In the first game, her goal is to reach the island. We see that in the special ending clip of the second game, a poster of the island. This is where she gets her idea to go. One of my favorite youtubers, The Gaming Beaver, had a theory about this. Notice how attached Six is to her music box in the beginning and end of the game. We see Monster Six not being aggressive towards Mono and actually trying to show off her music box until Mono unintentionally angers her by breaking her music box, her safespace, the one thing that made her feel safe. And because of this "betrayal" (Mono didnt mean to, he was just trying to save his friend), Six is filled with an unbearable spite towards her long lost friend and, when holding his hand for a long time, letting him realize what's going on, drops him in sheer anger that he took away the one thing that made her happy, the one good dream amongst a thousand Little Nightmares

I have my own personal theory. That Six let Mono go on purpose, to contain the tower. As we've all seen the tower is alive, a giant grotesque monster. The thin man was the only one who was able to keep the tower mostly contained. That's why he kept calling out to Mono through the tv sets. Thin man wasn't an older Mono, he just had the same powers as Mono. My theory is that every generation has one, a child picked by the previous thin man to wield this power. But with the world being the way it is, children such as Mono choose to run. So The Thin Man does whatever it takes to make them come to the tower. The Thin Man before Mono had something happen with him and the Lady of the Maw. The one before him took the Lady to the tower which warped her. Like Six the Lady let go of Thin man, because he wanted her too. Thin man saw the Towers true form and knew it needed to be contained. So he transferred some of his power to the Lady to allow her to travel through the scene and escape. The Lady however wouldn't just leave her friend, thabks to the warping of the tower, she was given a new ability. The same we see her use during the original game, she spent her entire life well into her adult years practicing it so she could use it to destroy the Tower once and for all. But that's the thing about adults, children are apparently more resistant to the Towers effects, only warping if they are placed right within the tower, adults however. By the time The Lady found the power she needed it was too late. She had lost herself. Fast forward to Little Nightmares two however, and Six and Mono have a similar problem. Mono had to stay to keep the Tower contained, becoming the new Thin Man. Six ran like the Lady and like her Six wasn't going to just leave Mono. Unlike the Lady however, Six's power was the ability to absorb from what she ate and by eventually managing to consume the Lady, what took her years to master, Six was able to do so in only minutes. Now Six may make her way back to the city, fully intent on saving Mono and razing the Warped City to the ground.
