Agree, it looks awesome but some of the maneouvers are jarring to see as it looks to unrealistic, if they can match something like DCS flight physics engine that would be awesome! also wonder how they would handle the transition between space and high altitude atmosphere! Fun stuff!!

​@donkisiko they're not going to these aircraft are nothing like modern aircraft, while more realistic flight models for atmosphere flight is coming it's very different

@@yulfine1688 these aircraft still have to obey the same laws of physics that the rest of the universe does, for example inertia, aerodynamics etc. If they want to ignore this and just explain it away with "oh well all ships are equipped with a quantum-mechanical drive that absorbs inertia and shielding that resists all aerodynamic forces", fine, sure, but it'll still look weird and jarring to see these fly when they do these unrealistic maneouvers, and as a result, this will take away some of the realism. For some the realism doesn't matter, but for some, like me, it does :)

​@@donkisiko you have physics that affect the way you fly, like inertia, gravity etc but also you have to take into account that the ships have thrusters all over them that allow them to do stuff like that, and a lot of the planets theyre flying on have low atmosphere, you also have fly modes, coupled that you have the thrusters constanly working to mantain your ship static (just flying in place) and decoupled that works more like a real plane, they do have lots of work to do yet and they're working on it, but its not that bad if you take those things in consideration

Just take a small ship and go to a low atmo moon ! At the beginning, you can start with very low speed to learn how your ship react 😎

At some point when control surfaces are more accurate... flying nose down 5 meters off the ground will not be possible. Point nose down in atmo... go down due to aerodynamic forces. Thus, you'll have to fly a bit higher since you can't see the ground very well with level nose.

I love how these low flyers always have their speed limiter set to SCM. 220mps is way slower than it looks on video.

It's Star Citizen current perspective, in reality 220 m/s ≈ 800km/h so it's not very slow... However, in the citcon's presentations, we can see they improve the feeling of speed even at "low" speed, wait and see :)

just a personal request that probly will get lost in the comments. Will there be a P-72 one? Love that ship and as an M&K pilot, its much better in maneuvering than the arrow imo. I know the nose is huge but I believe that wont be an issue. Think of it as more of a challenge than anything else. (if you can't get your hands on an emerald, I own 3. I would be willing to lend them out)

Why not, I never tried to low fly with it ! But I don't think it would be the most suitable ship for that use, firstly because it doesn't have much lateral strafes, which are important to feel the "drift", ans secondly because of its size. Very small ships are incredibly hard to follow in a group, this is why you won't see many Furies, despite of their good flight model. The P-72 is made for racing, with hard turns, but in my opinion it's not a good low flyer. But I'll try !

One thing I dont get since I have done any piloting like this is why the ships noses have to all be pointed down so far and are usually pointed away from the direction of movement so far.

We usually do that because it allows you to cumulate forward strafe and up strafe, which are the most powerful axes of your ship. Then, you have a better control on the direction. Plus, you have a better visibility on the ground. And for the direction, it's just for the sensation of drifting 😂

Decoupled mode allows you to adjust the trajectory with up or lateral strafes, so your nose can face an other direction than the one you're going to

Light fighters are cheap (the arrow can be rented for pocket change if you just want to have fun with it for awhile) With missions only paying 4K at the beginning you may want to consider saving about 40K from missions then using it to rent ships that will enable you to make money faster than your starter ship can.
