In the comics, Gordon Godfrey (also known as Glorious Godfrey as Tom Cavanaugh teased in one of his lines) is a supervillain from the planet Apokolips and works for their ruler, Darkseid. He has limited degrees of super strength and invulnerability, but his primary assets are immortality, a compelling speaking voice and extraordinary powers of persuasion, thus he typically takes the identity of a media figure on earth.
