I just recently took the plunge and bought a DC Essentials Superman, having waited years for the right Superman figure to properly use the Kryptonian Son Chris Reeve head. I had this video on my figure mod/reviews list, for some time, and had been envious of your version with the cloth cape, which I'm considering doing for it as well. The only thing is that darn left hand. What figure did you rob the left hand from, in order to get two fisted hands for this one, because it looks like it matches the ball joint swivel of the right hand that comes with the Essebtials figure?

FINALLY!! This is the video I was waiting for. Thanks for the “how to” for Supey’s cape. Now I can finally get to work on the stock pile of Superman figures I’ve amasses over the last few months. I’ve managed a couple of cape swaps based on your kit bash 101 videos, but this is definitely the vid I was waiting for to try my own first cape tuck.

With the Bermejo Supes with the Reeves head that you had with the Mafex cape, you can usually get a cape to sit flat on a figures shoulders with a cool trick from RoboKillahs video on Jedi robes on the Fwoosh channel. You have to wet the material then form it how you want, in this case to Clarks traps and shoulders, then let it dry in that position and it gives a very convincing cloth laying properly look. These look great btw and I really liked the Bermejo repaint with the Reeves head. The wrinkles make it look like his old suit and how it would bunch up and it didnt always look perfect... part of the charm of the old movies.

EpiCustoms and Props Hey man, glad you like these. I’d never thought about wetting the material and letting it dry in that shape. I’ll try that too next time. I’m always in the process of learning. 🙂

I'm thinking of making a cloth cape for my Multiverse Kingdom Come Superman. I was thinking of keeping the upper part of the plastic cape where it connects to the body and slicing off the rest and putting a cloth one underneath. Is that feasible?

@tryksta72476 жыл бұрын
Nice work! I came to the conclusion that I only like cloth goods capes on movie-based figures probably because they're real actors. I prefer the DCD rubber capes for anything else, especially over the Mattel hard plastic ones in almost all cases. That being said, I have a few Batman figs with cloth goods that are awesome as well. Maybe it's different if they come that way. Thanks for the video maybe I will give this a try!

The capes don't pop out of the holes? Do you glue them in?
@BradTheDCUniverseGeek6 жыл бұрын
If the hikes aren’t too big the cape stays tucked in there. You could put some glue in there if you like but I don’t usually, that way I can change things up and try new capes.

Hey my friend, can you tell me where I can possibly find a yellow s logo for a custom superman man cape in 6" scale? I saw a guy on KZbin who said he has a sheet of iron on yellow S logos that he uses for his but I was unable to contact him. I tried searching online and I cant find anything
@gustavob57024 жыл бұрын
Search online for iron on transfer paper or printable tshirt transfer sheets and you can make your own. All you need is an inkjet printer and to scale the logo to the right size.

The Paint, markers thing that you showed in the last video. Does that paint rub off or leave a sticky residue? Or is it good for posing figures and messing around with them or will it rub off? Thanks for the tutorials! They are really helpful
@BradTheDCUniverseGeek6 жыл бұрын
The paint if shaken well, and allowed for each layer to dry properly, it will make for minimal rub. Sometimes I lightly sand the area sobthe paint has something to stick too better. Certain surfaces the paint has a hard time with because it’s an oil base. I still like to seal all of my finished products though just to be sure.

Hi Brad....does the Christopher Reeves head fit easily on the essentials body or did you have to modify it? Thanks for your help and great video!
@BradTheDCUniverseGeek6 жыл бұрын
The head fits on mine pretty well as far as depth placement but in order to have it stay on tight you will need to use a sticky tack or a hardening putty. The ball peg is pretty small in comparison to the hole. I just use a sticky tack because I like to swap heads around pretty often.

I think I'll go cruise around the fabric shop with my superman action figure as a 32 year old guy hahaha. Who cares!! Hey so if not spandex, how would you describe those 2 fabrics that worked well? Also what diameter is that circle template for the Cape? Thanks for the awesome video. Keep the superman customs coming in your videos👍👍 Maybe one on how you paint them? Thanks again

Any tips for putting a yellow S symbol on the capes?
@frankmorphis12104 жыл бұрын
Get a print out of the emblem, make sure it's to scale. I've used paint program on the computer, go to resize image. Print desired size, trace it with tracing paper...get carbon paper. Place carbon paper over the cape and printed emblem on top of that. When done you'll see your emblem on the cape. To add color, get yellow acrylic paint. Low viscosity grade and fine brushes...number brushes 1, .00, .000..use scotch tape to align with lines. This will give you clean lines on your paint job. You'll start to figure out from there different techniques. I strongly suggest doing it on a piece of cloth you can use for scrap first. I hope this helps. Good luck

Thank you! I have considered taking commissions in the past but the idea of messing up somebodies figure if I frig up made me decide against it. Also it would be fairly time consuming, and after materials cost, wouldn’t leave much in the way of profit to compensate for time spent. I really do appreciate the fact that you feel my work is good enough to make money from though. 🙂
