Yes! The Krypton scenes would have had an otherworldly epic feel, like seeing Mel Gibson’s Passion of the Christ and Apocalypto

I do believe they used this in the Supergirl show. Kara has said multiple words in Kryptonian along with Martian Manhunter

I just wrote down the whole Kryptonian alphabet. However. You are absolutely right. There needs to 🐝 a course on it like Klingon. What other languages are you learning to hold you over? You just gave me an idea for a channel name: **The Lingual Junkie** -Its my fix, and I need it now🧐🤌

This is a new version of the language. All other forms were made by artist to look good, this is formed to have a "real world" use as spoken and or written.

This is pretty incredible. The production designer for Man of Steel wanted to go the extra mile and make a completely functional language that can be read, written and spoke - not some comic book artist's attempt at a Pig Latin equivalent. The language itself was built around Superman mythology and tailored to glimpses of Kryptonian life that truly makes it relevant to the entire Superman universe.

Very good work on creating an interesting language and adding depth to this in-movie universe. I did want to mention that, while she says "This is the first time a created language has gone along with symbols that have been shown....", written Klingon language, to go along with the full spoken Klingon language (created by linguist Marc Okrand in 1984 for Star Trek III), dates back to as early as the late 1980s in Star Trek: The Next Generation. Examples are at en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Klingon_language (a ways down the page).

Awesome alphabet design, I hope we can get a more structured grammar and more stable vocabulary. Word order should remain SOV, the pluralization system of the language should also have a dual form (like in na’vi and quenya). Include special particles to mark the object of a sentence like Japanese. I’m not sure of how the verbs would work and be structured. But I think it should still remain simple and somewhat regular to learn.

Brilliant approach with sound waves. Different types of waves are made by a record needle on spinning multi sided dice. The only way to really know the language lies in the green crystal. Unfortunately they never have used the actual Kryptonian script that I've seen, to date. I am 40 yrs old. In over 20 yrs, Ive been able to find inside that green crystal, a paragraph written in kryptonian. Ive made several hundred 3D scientific memes, to Illustrate. As I am a symbologist, not a linguist, decrption is tedious. I am willing to work with any serious individual with the ability to contribute. I have thrown away careers for this. My life is not a joke and neither is this.

Nice work, and great to see linguistics in the spotlight, but at 2:45 Dr. Schreyer says "This is the first time a created language has gone along with symbols that have been shown." Is she referring to languages developed exclusively for film or TV? Because Tolkien's languages and orthographies would seem to be a glaring contradiction...

@leysont8 жыл бұрын
Yes, I watched them, but something written like a wiki(a) article is a little more professional. On conlang.wikia.com you can make tables about the phonology, grammar, orthography and stuff. Also I have the feeling, your language is more like a code than an actual language. It seems you only invented words for English words like 'the', 'thanks' and others, without making an actual grammar or having etymologies for the words. If I'm wrong about the last part, forgive me.
@celtofcanaanesurix22458 жыл бұрын
+Erich Martens I recently added non English features like to words for we. One that means speaker and listener and one that mean speaker and friends But thanks for the suggestion I might join the wiki. Also I'm making the language is a fictional conlang for a race of people in a book I am writing

+Kingaming 9000 inclusive and exclusive pronouns... nice. What about case, gender, tense, mood etc? Have you considered these grammatical categories?

I don’t understand why you would put so much effort into creating lore, culture, history, ecology and overall world building into a movie if you weren’t going to actually capitalise on it beyond the first 10 minutes of the film. Just make a Krypton movie.
