I really liked the call-back to the Christopher Reeve movies when Jimmy confronted Clark with the Superman saves at the same time Clark missed softball games: the falling helicopter was Superman's first save in Superman I, the train track disaster from the earthquake in Superman I and the Eiffel Tower incident from Superman 2. Great way to pay homage to his history that fit with the story.

You brought up a good point about Jimmy being a bit too combative and confronting Clark in the Daily Planet. I think Clark might have been more open and less defensive about his identity with Jimmy if it was in a more friendly type of setting than the main floor of their newsroom.

Since they returned to Smallville they've been running the farm too so they have another source of income

To be fair Jimmy Olsen is in what in a couple of scenes so you getting a good impression of the person or bad impression of the person would be ridiculous so your opinion is ridiculous
