I'm probably the *only* person that *does not* want Jonathan to have powers. I want him to still have that conection with Lois, a human between all this chaos and supernatural events. I want his power to be his compassion, his intelligence and his maturity. Jordan and Jonathan in a sense, mirror the relationship between Clark and Lois, where Clark/Jordan struggling to balance their power and responsabilities with their human life and Lois/Jonathan continously proving their value and importance to the story and the heroes. Both relatioships are loving, mature and balanced. I know people thinks Jon deserves powers, but I actually think that would be a disservice to his character and his arc.

You're not alone. I don't want Jonathan to have powers either. I think having the human a side is as important as the Kryptonian, and the boys have both, just in different amounts. (Also, Jonathan's superpower is his ability to shoulder all the emotions of everyone around him and be their back-up.) He's an amazing character.

When he's lasering the Kryptonite, you can see his suit heal itself, which I think was super awesome. I think one of my favorite parts of this episode, besides Superman getting super angry, was when he got excited for his son throwing that punch. And then when he takes the phone call, you can see Jonathan throw a punch himself and hurt his hand because... he is a goof like his brother (and father) before him. I also really appreciate when Clark takes Jordan's lasering his hand, he's actually in pain from it, but they're trying to keep things low key.

I love that you guys are putting these reactions up on KZbin still, I signed up for Patreon specifically for this show and I almost never get to enjoy the uncut stuff because of my very limited time. Basically the only time I can watch you guys is during my breaks or have you on on my phone while at work. I never have two screens to be able to sinc. The overall quality of this show and Stargirl has really reinvigorated my excitement for the Arrowverse. Hope the good work not only continues into both shows' second seasons but can start rubbing off on whatever Arrowverse shows are left. They really could use some of that magic.

@@NoName1462 I get there's been a decline in quality with the Arrowverse in recent years but I don't see why that's a reason for some people to s**t on the whole thing. There's still the occasional gem and clearly, with the positive critical reception towards Superman & Lois and Stargirl, there seems to be a reinvigorated spirit ready to carry the franchise forward.

100% with you guys. My favorite iterations of Superman are Christopher Reeve because nostalgia, 1990's animated series because definitive, and this because it is perfect Iin tone. I don't have the same love for Smallville(it really pissed me off in its constant kicking the can down the road), but this is my Superman now.

I personally love Man of steel. We have seen superman saving people many times in different movies and tv shows. people say Superman is a boring character and i get that but Zack Snyder tried to do somethig completely different which is a gamble of course. Also Henry cavill superman is at his starting point. he was learning what all he could do. he didn't understand the power he has to the full potential. This tv show superman on the other hand has been superman for a while and people trust him now. It's different. In ZSJL when superman comes out in his black suit he completes his character arc and becomes a superman that you might know. Zack took a realistic approach of today's superman and maybe that's why people don't like it. idk p.s love your reactions. keep it up !!!!

The first 8 episodes of this show made me love superman again......it just reminds me why I love characters like Superman spiderman and Cap......its the decisions and sacrifices and character depth....... And i can see superman saving 1000s of people forever......coz no 1, yes i said no 1 can save as many people and prevent big catastrophes as Superman..... He is the grand daddy of superheroes

I'm very much a fan of Man of Steel, so I'm always going to be biased here. I think the problem is that we never got the Superman arc that should've come with Synder's DCEU. We got 3 Cap movies in the MCU, over which time we saw the changes & settling in of the character, something we've never gotten from Snyder's Superman. Origin stories imo, should be where the superhero's the most uncomfortable: stiff, unsure at times, and yes, stoic. I've always seen the stoicism as the hero's interpretation of what they're supposed to be like. As the movies go on, we should see that start to fade away as the character is faced w/the reality of what they actually are. Which is probably why Superman's story works so well in the TV medium, as you've got the time to explore all of these themes.

I hear you, but counterpoint. In the first Capt. America movie it establishes that Steve Rogers: 1. He wants to help even when he physically doesn't qualify 2. He cares for people 3. No matter what, he's going to do the best he can 4. He's simply a good person. The movies show his struggles, but he never changes at the core of who he is. Superman and Lois, Clark Kent is the same, I don't question if he sees himself above people or does he care, I know he does. Without powers this show's Clark and Steve Rodgers would still be doing something to help.
