You know, he know's he was gone for such a long time so many things have changed and he know's that and deep down in his heart he still and always will love lois, at this point she is lying to richard that she never loved superman, that hurts him alot, He pulls back and goes into space no matter how his feelings are his duty as superman comes first to protect the world, even tough his pain he know's what his duty is, and that makes him the best hero that mankind can have.

It's not his vulnerability 2 magic or kryptonite that hurts Kal-El most, but his own 'human' heart. Wrong for him as I've ALWAYS said Lois is, she's part of what humanizes him, gives him a deeper connection to earth on a whole. That fact that he loved her so well and she could just outrightly deny that...he, as a SuperMAN, NO WAY that wouldn't hurt! That's why Jor-el's words rang for him as they did. Yet he STILL went out to do good! I'll admit, this is one of the scenes that made the movie

You can see the pain in his eyes when that realization comes into his consciousness, right after he heard Lois lie.

Vengo del futuro y aunque esta película fue muy criticada en su tiempo, hoy en el 2021, nos damos cuenta de que es una obra incomprendida por muchos... Es tan humana que no hay elementos fantasiosos o supervillanos que pongan contra las cuerdas al Hombre de Acero; es su profundo y lascivo sentimiento de soledad, aunado con todos sus temores, defectos e inseguridades los principales antagonistas que merman en el funcionamiento de Superman en la trama. Tal vez es por ello que muchos apreciamos escenas como estas, porque empatizamos con el sentir de Superman, la soledad, el sentimiento de mal agradecimiento a tu persona, un corazón roto... Etc.

@gepeto92 That's one of the best things about this scene. It shows Clark Kent/Kal-El/Superman's human heart. A lot of people tend to forget that even with all his powers, he was raised as a human by humans. Unlike his good buddy Batman, he can't really shut his emotions off completely, and not because he can't, it's just that he chooses not to shut his feelings down. To me, that puts Superman a step up above Batman since he tends to shut everybody out. (DCAU anyone?)

Thats not the kind of question a real guy would ever ask. Of course she was! I don't know what he expected her to say. Usually that conversation is followed by the new guy calling the old boyfriend a loser or pointing out his flaws. This guy couldn't even do that. Another thing I'm noticing is that it looks like people in the real world, even DC to some extents, would prefer the world's greatest hero to beBatman, who is a brooding, distant superhero who keeps everyone at arm's length and eventually pushes everyone away from him, more than Superman, a hero who uses hope, not fear to help. Just why is that? I mean, even Bruce Timm, co-creator of the DC Animated Universe, hates Superman. What the heck?

@rencas I think people dislike this movie because it mimicked the original Superman movie(Luthor had a land grab scheme, Superman saved a jet and Lois from disaster, we got a few scenes of other super deeds, a woman saves Superman from drowning and by taking a piece of Kryptonite away from him that had been put there by Luthor) yet did not quite live up to it. I waited all my life to see effects of this caliber in a Superman movie and enjoyed it, but think it could have been better.

@MMZERO9 I don't think they hate Superman per-say, it's just that from a writing stand-point it's a lot easier to come up with stories for Batman who just a normal man with lots of gadgets, than it is with Superman who can solve most plotlines in a matter of seconds. Which is probably why there's have been like seven or eight Batman movies and only a couple Superman movies. Bruce Timm and the rest of the DCAU did come up with some great Superman stories, though.

I disagree with jor-el. What does it mean to be human? It's not in our appearance, our genes or physiology. It's how we act. Jor-el is letting his sons powers separate him from the rest of humanity. Superman is just as human as we all are.

@MMZERO9 There's no argument that they made Superman into a "Superwimp" during the first season of JL. Timm and his team even admitted that. They thought they could make the weekly bad guy more of a threat if they showed that he could take out Superman. They did their best to make Supes strong later on but it did seem they favored Batman. I'm not all that familiar with Wonder Woman so I can't really say if her liking Bats is OOC.

@Syryu Yeah, there were definiitely a few that stood out, but then when it came time for JL/JLU, they completely dropped the ball altogether and seemed to promote Batman at the expense of Superman, and they had the latter as a dumb jock and a guy who seems to get KO'd on the first hit. That's not who Clark is, and that's not good storytelling on Bruce Timm's part to do that. Plus they turned WW into a Bat-groupie and had her completely OOC. Again, not good storytelling right there.
