Bennie... there were two track in that movie that I thought were beyond genius. The soundtrack for home and the french horn opening of Superman. You nailed home and I'll take the opening to 78 Supes. But mixed together with a little extra sugar... out of this world my friend. Kudos on hitting it perfectly. Thank you.

@Graeme McFee Are you referring to people who bash with Bibles, or people like you who bash Bible believers? Justin Jack was just being honorable to Mr. Reeve in his own way. Even the idea of Superman is implicitly Messianic. On the first page of a Superman comic where he had died there were the words, "Once upon a time, there was a perfect man who came from the sky and did only good." Jor-El sending his only son to Earth to be its greatest hero easily could be inferred to the idea of Jesus Christ, or at least to Christians and some Jews, the coming Messiah. The concept of an ideal person to look up to and emulate is a strong and noble thing to believe, admitting that you are not perfect and striving to be better is a very sensible frame of mind, if not likewise honorable.
@justifan5 жыл бұрын
@Graeme McFee Naw, it's just a glitch in Facebook kept me from seeing the additional posts. As for fantasy, the idea of the Biblical God is actually very scientifically sustainable. The idea that the Bible has hundreds of historical and scientific inaccuracies as far as I can see falls short, as I have myself studied hundreds, and have resolved at least 90% percent of them, some of the remaining I have asked actual professionals and they were able to clarify the inconsistencies. The hateful fantasies ironically seem to be coming from the skeptics.
@justifan5 жыл бұрын
Regardless of what Justin Jack's personal beliefs are, I find the post very honorable to Christopher Reeve and his memory, thank you Justin!

@@david9243The funny thing is, there probably was a person out there who may have been a hundred or thousand times more heroic than Christopher, but was so humble that we never knew his name, maybe with a name like Edger Wifflehoffer, who was never celebrated here, but whose righteousness and selflessness was greatly rewarded in heaven.

Not only was he the first one to make Chris laugh again, but he also covered Chris's medical bills for him right up until the day he passed away. In addition to John Williams’ score, Stuart Baird’s editing, Geoffrey Unsworth’s cinematography, John Barry’s production design, and the Super efforts from all the VFX crew, the top three elements that made the film successful were 1. Tom Mankiewicz’s writing 2. Richard Donner’s direction & last, but not least, Christopher Reeve’s performance. Add all of that together, and the result is “Superman: The Movie.”

That movie was a huge success because of 2 people. John Williams and Christopher Reeve. Williams, in my opinion, did his best work for the Superman movie, and Christopher Reeve was the best actor ever to play the iconic role. He is, and will forever be, the benchmark that all actors who play Superman are judged against. No other actor, who's played a super hero, is so overwhelmingly agreed upon by the majority of people to be the best. If you ask people who the best Batman was, you'll get a bunch of different answers. You ask who was the best Superman, and 90% say Reeve. I think the next closest person would be Robert Downey Jr., as Iron Man. Nobody will ever play Iron Man better than Downey Jr. I know this is my opinion, by I think most people would agree. It would have been so cool if Christopher Reeve could have played the part with today's special effects. Given the fact that the original Superman movie still holds water today, despite the use of 70's special effects, is because of Reeve.

This one goes out to the maestro himself, Mr. John Williams!! Without him and his many iconic film scores, we not only wouldn’t have believed Superman could fly, but also; the shark in Jaws would not have worked, there’d be no galaxy far far away from a long time ago, Indiana Jones wouldn’t have defeated the Nazis, E.T. would not have made it home and dinosaurs would still be extinct!

The Superman theme just isn't complete without The Planet Krypton. Its the Preamble... a glimps of things to be. It sets the stage. Without it, the Superman March just doesn't have the same impact.

I know of NO other movie score that was ever used in other movies, or even tv series, on the same subject. That speaks of its effectiveness, its power, and now even 44 years after it first appeared it is still being used in other superman movies. i remember the first movie as clear as day . i turned 20 in 1978 and this was utterly electrifying when i saw it that year

I remember when I was six years old sitting in the theatre. The chills I felt when John Williams Superman theme came blaring out of the theatre speakers while the iconic S came blazing on the screen. It was an indescribable feeling. You my friend, have made me feel like that six year old child again. I literally had tears in my eyes hearing this music. The vocals add the intensity that I felt as a child upon hearing this music for the first time. Thank you. Majestic, heavenly, iconic and nostalgic all in one.

As someone who has been around long enough to have watched George Reeves (the original TV Superman) save the world back in the 50s, I must say this piece by John Williams is an absolute masterpiece! Christopher Reeves definitely did justice to the role in his films, we all can draw a great deal of inspiration from these stories. That is what heroes are all about, inspiring us all!

This music brings back the original joy I had while watching Superman movies, tv, and reading Comics. Superman has always been one of my favorite superheroes because he was ALWAYS morally good, he never wavered in the most stressful situations while the world was at risk, he never gave in and always found another way, never having a "grey area" of actions. A being so powerful and still good at heart, I think that the world nowadays could use a Superman.
