The right stick assist character can be used at any time to break the boss' combos

Use the short version of his trait to throw your opponent off. If the trait suddenly ends early and you know its about to and he doesn't you have a big opportunity. and if he has to check the bar to see what trait you activated he is still distracted. Just throw it out and watch people fumble.

That's soooo awesome. If you did that longer combo in a real match, your opponent would have to just sit and watch totally throwing off their timing.
