There is many behind the scenes fun facts about that really heartbreaking scene where Dean speaks over Sam's dead body. First is that Jensen told the director that he mentally couldn't handle doing many takes of this scene. So the director "kicked" everyone out left there only Jensen with Jared and they only did like 2 or 3 takes of the scene. Another is that Jared was supposedly so emotional from that he cried while he was laying on that bed. And the last one that Jensen extended his speech as far as he could to see how long Jared can hold his breath. 😄 They're just such brothers in real life. 😄

They’re both amazing but there may be one of them you feel you can relate to a little bit more and that’s not saying you don’t view them as a team it’s saying you connect more with one or the other for me that’s dean he has a very similar personality and mindset to me Sam is amazing but dean is more my style You still need both of them otherwise the show wouldn’t be as good as it is but You can have a favourite character and still appreciate the other characters

I have cried so many times over the 15 years of this show. Been heartbroken so many times over the Winchesters and their family of characters. But it’s taught me more about love, family and sacrifice than any show ever has. Wouldn’t change a thing...even some of the bad episodes. They’ll never be any characters to compare to the ones we’ve loved for 15 years who were played by the perfect actors.

IMO Dean's lack of self worth comes from his Dad. Not that I think John intentionally abused him but looking after Sammi was drilled into him at a early age. We saw a glimpse in season 1 of John's reaction when he thought young Dean had dropped the ball in that reguard. The trauma of that is engrained still in everything he does.

@@TheJhale2011 evidence of physical abuse is there if you pay attention. In 5x16 - Dark Side of the Moon - we learn that Sam ran away for 2 weeks and Dean was frantically trying to find him. Dean says "and when dad came home...." and makes a face that can only be explained by Dean remembering being beaten by his dad. Dean's been yelled at by his dad many times before there HAD to have been something different happening during that to make Dean react that way. And in 9x7 teenage Dean gets arrested for stealing peanut butter and bread to feed Sam and his arms are covered in bruises. He says they were from a werewolf but they don't cause bruises, they bite and scratch. And Dean didn't even face a werewolf until season 2. John told the cops to let Dean rot in jail. Then Dean stayed at a home for juvenile delinquents for months, was doing well in school, had a girlfriend, and was about to go to his first school dance. Then John showed up and said Dean had a job to do (probably look after Sam while John abandones them again) and had to leave. The only time Dean was doing well and living a normal, happy life growing up was when he was free of John. There's also the fact that John would get blind-drink and angry - Sam and Dean refered to John as a mean drunk multiple times. And John smashed food that Dean had made because it reminded him of Mary. There's also official comic books where John shoots Sam in the arm over food - written by Andrew Dabb (who later became showrunner) , so clearly the writers believe John was physically abusive too. I hate the fact that John's character is romantised and the abuse he caused, physical and mental, is glossed over and left as subtext. John was a monster.

Even with their other blood family being gone and out of their lives, they have this man who loves them so deeply despite not being blood related. Kim Manners, who directed a lot of early Supernatural, was describing getting Jensen to the point where he tells Sam about wanting things to go back to “normal” as peeling back the layers. I think of Dean in that same way as an onion who we get to watch slowly peel the layers back. Glad you enjoyed the episode, in spite of the tears. ♥️

Dean is without doubt the best big brother in television. He would do anything for his baby brother, his life mission is protecting him and didn't hesitate for a second before traded Sammy's life for his own eternal stay in Hell. He consider his own life as meaningless compared with lives of the ones he love. Sam is also amazing brother for sure, he loves Dean more then anyone but he don't necessarily NEED him, would be capable of living without him (he prove it when he lived with Jessica). Dean on the other hand NEEDS Sam, he couldn't live with him being gone.

I feel the same way now. I've never liked one brother over the other. I didn't really follow the fandom while watching the show live over the years, and I had no idea that some fans adamantly dislike one brother over the other. It wasn't until I recently started watching reactions to the show after the series finale that I realized this was a thing lol. That's why I've been loving sesskasays reactions. She tries to understand things from both of the bothers perspectives and seems to have a very good sense of their motivations already. I just hope people aren't still giving her a hard time about it like in the 1st season because she's one of my favorite SPN reactors!

Sam's birthday has been revealed if you work it out. Read on to find out... Well Sam was 6 months when his mum died, on 2nd November 1983, so you can work out his birthday and star sign from there. Something I find *so* interesting and cool about this episode though. Jake is in three scenes this episode. Two with Yellow Eyes, then the one in the Graveyard. The first two, the ones with Yellow Eyes, he starts the scene with "Howdy Jake!" the one with the others, Sam starts it with "Howdy Jake!" I just find that so interesting. They do it a few times, have Sam's lines kinda mirror things that a demon or bad guy has said. And some of the time I can say it was an accident, that they just forgot that a bad guy had said something either exactly the same or similar because it's in different episodes, sometimes even different seasons. But this time, it's in the same episode. They had to do it on purpose. So they purposefully had Sam unknowingly repeat exactly what Yellow Eyes had said. And I know it's not like this big speech or deep line or anything like that, but it still happened. It's the fact that that's how each of Jake's scenes started this episode. With a "Howdy Jake!" from either Yellow Eyes or Sam. Idk, it just really gets me. No one else ever seems to spot that (to be fair, I didn't either at first) and I just find it really cool and interesting, and love that the writers clearly made that choice purposefully. Also, your reaction to Sam killing Jake was *perfect!* He was so cold about it and it's kinda freaky. Like, I absolutely love getting to see darker sides to Sam, I think it's really interesting and fun (plus, Jared plays it *so well!* So it's always awesome!) But it does take you by surprise, because it's Sammy. He's a sweetheart!

No apology necessary, feel all your feelings! This episode demands all your emotions! 3:59 The official beginning of Supernatural! Crossroad Blues was such a HUGE episode. Saying anything about it at the time would have been such a spoiler. One of my favorites because it seemed like a MOTW but it was very much arc related. Of course Dean only gets a year, he's not your avg. person. Sacrifice is the Winchester way clearly. First dad the Dean, it's a family affair. The Bobby and Dean scene was very powerful. You could clearly see that Bobby was deeply hurt when he realized Dean made a deal and only got 1 year. "Damnit Dean". I think that truly hurt his soul and you could see it in his face. Ellen still being alive was a relief. She had to be part of this whole thing. I must say Samuel Colt is a fucking genius with his 100 mile wide Devil's Trap that kept the gates of hell shut. That was mind blowing when I first saw it. Jake got what he got from Sammy. It looked very wrong the way Sam executed him, but he did stab Sam in the back, literally. But the number one thing for me in this episode was Yellow Eyes finally getting hit with the last bullet in the Colt. And of course john Winchester helping to get the job done. Very powerful scene also. Extremely emotional, but I must say this is nothing in comparison to what else is coming. You should probably skip out on the make up cause it will be all over the place, I PROMISE! The seasons just get better. If you thought season 2 was good just wait. We'll all be riding shotgun in the Impala right next to you. You are now an extended member of the Winchester Family, welcome! Great reaction and after thoughts as always. One of the few that discusses what they just viewed and has a perspective on it all. Thanks for that and see you Season 3. We gotta save Dean's bacon! Adios.

Okay finished watching and, my initial instinct was right. I loved your reactions to this! It's a lot of fun reliving the series with you. Also, don't feel pressured to choose a brother. I love both Sam and Dean equally. Fun fact, now that you finished watching season 2: the show creator, Eric Kripke did *not* like the concept of the Roadhouse. It was added in season 2 as a request from the network executives, and Kripke gleefully had it burnt to the ground in the season 2 finale.

One more comment, since you're about to dive into season 3 (this isn't a spoiler!), you'll notice that there's only 16 episodes for the next season, and that's because it happened around the time of the massive writer's strike in Hollywood. So, they had to cut that season short by 7 episodes. Don't worry though, it's all good, and season 4 more than makes up for a shorter season 3.

Just for the record, I still declare that this is the best Season Finale of this whole entire series, and you know that I’ve seen it all! I was already liking Dean better than Sam before now, but this episode just made me fall completely in love with Jensen Ackles! Dean is the better brother, Jensen is the better character, and (by God) he should have won some kind of award for this episode! By the way, fun fact: Supernatural started out as a weekly horror series...but look at how far it has come in only 2 years. It will forever be the single thrilling, exciting, hilarious and dramatic experience all in one! This show has it all: everything that you could ever want, and more...so much more!

When I saw this was nearly an hour long, I actually got a little excited. You have such great observations on the characters and where they are mentally/emotionally at this point. Btw, they never actually tell us Sam's birthday flat out, but you have enough information by the end of season one to figure it out for yourself.

It's great seeing how much you love both Sam & Dean. I feel the same way about the brothers. I love them both equally. There's no need to chose between them.
