The interaction between Cas and Death is one of my favorite in the whole series. Any time Julian Ritchings' Death is on screen, he steals the scene. He has such a presence he brings to the character that you can feel just how ancient and powerful he is.

I cannot love enough how Misha can just switch characters so smoothly. The Cass we know and love, creepy leviathan, Full devoted Angel, Angel with doubt and suffering Questions, God. Awesome actor. Loved watching him go food shopping with lil Westy.

I always thought it was so compelling that Sam was the one to reach out to Cas after he was literally experiencing hallucinations because of Castiel. The fact that Sam was the first to forgive him and try to help him was always super powerful in my opinion.

Sam knows what its like to be drunk on power far more than you can handle and you're deluding yourself into believing its for the right reasons. Moose has many problems, but being a hypocrite is not one of them.

SamCas knows exactly that he didn't do it out of malice, but because he wanted to fix the mess he made. Castiel has shown himself capable of giving his own life to save his brothers many times, and his main priority in this whole Rafael thing was precisely to keep Dean and Sam away from danger, as this was an enemy they wouldn't know how to deal with. Castiel knew he would rather put himself at risk than the Winchesters, and he made that very clear in the episode. He felt guilty for lying, but in his head, he was doing the right thing. Sam has already experienced this and therefore, he understood Cas's side.

"Sam, you 're not okay!" is literally the tagline of the show. SPN starts and ends with Sam being "not okay."

I love that Sam was the one to reach out to Castiel because yeah, he would understand in a way the other two would not about having the best intentions that get you down this path you can't see to break away from them takes you to a bad place.

Season 7 is one of my favorites outside the first 5 honestly. It gets a lot of undeserved hate. The first two episodes are kind of jumbled cause of the incomplete ending in season 6 but after that it gets pretty good.

SPOILERS!!! I think many people just didn't like Cas being gone, Bobby's death and how much the Leviathan's takeover plot draws from American politics. Not sure it it was always planned but I never believed Cas was gone for good even when watching the first time but I thought it was good he was removed for a while because it reset the stakes for the boys and losing Bobby made it personal for the boys. As for the Leviathan's exploitation of politics I think its hypocritical for people to complain since we've seen it exploited in this show before even with the Horsemen, especially Famine and Pestilence.

@@jazz265 I really enjoyed the start and ending of the season but season 7 is one of weakest for me because of middle with the exception of two episodes. The pacing just does not work for me and it has some of the worst MOW episodes.

I think what Cas did was predominantly him, until he massacred that campaign office. That to me looks the Leviathan briefly managed to take control of the vessel. Before that, it could either just be him, or him influenced by having Leviathan and/or Purgatory souls inside him. It would feel natural I think, if these types of souls/beings would make a host more beastlike; more aggressive or predatory. That said, Cas can be ruthless all on his own, and he has a lot going on inside him right now, aside from souls and beasts. He's hurt and alone, but also on a rush of vindication and purpose I think. Cas has been "validated" again and again, brought back by God, had people from fellow angels to the King of Hell tell him he is God's chosen meant to save and fix things. And then he has been doubted and "betrayed", by his lieutenant Rachel who before passionately defended him, by the Winchesters that he rebelled for, by his old friend Balthazar. They all doubted him and worked against him, but he was right! He took the souls and held them, he vanquished Raphael and all their followers, humanity is saved from the Apocalypse, and Castiel, God's chosen, will now be a better Father than their absent God, he will set things right, and he will know that he is right, because he was right when all doubted him. The slaughter of that entire campaign office is a brutal knock back into reality; Cas wasn't maybe entirely in the right, his actions (whether ultimately right or wrong) still had consequences, and his unwillingness to realise that, his pride, just led him to slaughter people against his will. I think that really shocks him and humbles him, and brings him back to his senses. And thankfully Sam was willing to reach out with an olive branch just when Cas was ready to hear it.

Love the two first episodes of this season. Jared's portrayal of Sam's mental issues this season is just heartbreaking. And of course Dean is hurt by Cas' action. He broke the one person in his life. And I love Sam, but he is way too forgiving.

Godstiel was great, presumably taking the reigns of the cosmos for months, in this one episode, but yeah - the Leviathans did hijack his vessel at the campaign office and made his ability to maintain control of his power fade over their occupancy of his vessel. I honestly wish Godstiel was the villain of S7 for being such an integral part of the team in S4-S6.

I love how Death is the first person to deny that Cas is now a god. Death has been around too long and seen too much to share such pretensions. Also comparing God to John F Kennedy by virtue of the speech he's paraphrasing.

Wow. You look so Lovely today - you're totally GLOWING!! Anyhow, yes, this was quite the shocking season premiere episode. Yes, I had to wait over 4 months when I watched this live in 2011. Yes, I Iove watching Castiel deal with the homophobic preacher, very gratifying. Yes, that was a big Oh Sh*t ending there. Fun fact: the gothic soap opera Dark Shadows had a storyline about the Leviathans over 40 years earlier. This season is when Supernatural becomes a girl's show with women making up the large majority of viewers. It remains a girl's show for the rest of the series, but this is when this was set. Women made up as much as 80% of the attendees at the Supernatural Conventions.

But I do think it gets back up after that and I have watched it all the way through at least 5 times- I know you aren't doing show recommendations right now and that you have plenty on your plate, but I feel like if you haven't watched it before you would like a show called 'Once Upon A Time'.
