About the Leviathans being weaker villains; one thing I do appreciate is that we got to see their plan in action. During the whole Lucifer arc, they talked about all the world-ending omens but we never got to see them. With the Leviathans, at least we saw humans becoming more lethargic and saw them implementing the whole thing across the season. So I don't love them as villains but I am happy with the way the season-long arc unfolded.

If Dick Roman had interacted more with Crowley, I think this season would have been cooler. They are both businessmen-type of villains, and it would have been so entertaining to see them go head to head. Still, it has some great episodes and I prefer it to many later seasons.

I've always thought the same thing. The stare down once Dick Roman catches Crowley in a devil's trap. That has always been almost emblematic of that to me.

Yeah, Bobby’s last scene was something I thought was going to happen as well. Doesn't make it hurt any less. Though as you say, much pride in Bobby for making the choice that he made, and at the very least he gets to say one last farewell to his boys.

I am completely perplexed. How does your comment, to a Reactor about an episode, uploaded 10 - 11 hours ago, get posted 2 weeks ago? WTF is going on with KZbin? I'm finding that I can no longer comment on some Channels uploads, subscriber or not, but I can still comment on their community page, though. There's no rhyme or reason to it.

As Bobby said early in the season. Whatever their plan is, it's not going Mathra down main street. They were physically strong enough to make angels look like small children, yet their plan was even more sinster than just brute force. Even though they had tons of it. I know it's most fans least favorite season, but i loved it mostly. Loved your reaction to Bobby's goodbye. Your empathy is why your reactions are so great. Keep up the good work.

I feel like the writers had Sam be the one Ghost Bobby almost killed thus snapping him out of it as a way to make up for not showing Bobby's death having a greater impact on Sam and not giving Ghost Bobby and him more screen time.

I agree with you Jess the leviathan storyline was great and what they were planning was terrifying but they wrapped up their story rather quickly and they didn’t get enough airtime this season! Too many fillers this season they really should have expanded on more Levi’s origin and showed them more fighting angels and demons and eating them or whatever. Worst season? Maybe 🤔 but next season 8 is awesome and can’t wait for the reaction to this good season

While I think it could have been rewarding the see the boys having to deal with a vengeful Bobby (in the sense that they would have to give up on family to protect others from getting hurt, and be on the emotionally receiving end of having the ghost of a loved one "taken care of" ), I still agree it was the right decision to have Bobby be the one to make the call. Bobby is a character that deserved this last character arc, and we deserved to see it to say goodbye along with him.

As a non-American, the Leviathan's plan is so funny to me. I don't think any other country in the world uses high fructose corn syrup so this was never going to work outside of the US. Cas didn't need to go grind flour and slaughter a pig for that sandwich, he could have stopped into a McDonalds in Britain or Ireland.

I always feel that season seven is the weakest. The Leviathan idea was a good one, but not well realised, and ultimately wrapped up so quickly (and, I think, too easily). BUT... that said, it does introduce some of the best characters in Charlie and Kevin (I think Garth, but forget if he appeared in season six first now). Both six and seven feel like the showmakers were trying to work out where to go with the series, after the five-year story was wrapped up. Season eight is where, I feel, things kick into gear again.

While Season 7 felt like the weakest, it had some great stand out episodes (7x15 Repo Man is in my top 20, 7x10 Death's Door, and 7x17 The Born-Again Identity), and the opener episode with suped up Castiel vs. Death was extremely interesting... but it felt like they were setting up for Eldritch Horror with Death calling the Leviathans "Old Ones" and the end of season 6 having literal Lovecraft references. Instead we got "corporate evil", which would have been *fine*, but it didn't feel like what we were getting pitched. All that being said, I thought the last few episodes were great: we got Kevin, a massive lore drop with the tablets, Bobby farewell, Dick Roman makes for an entertaining villain if nothing else, and a very intriguing cliffhanger with us finally seeing Purgatory. I guess the major issue with this season is it felt like it didn't have a firm grasp of what they wanted to do until the last third of season. If they started out with the tablet stuff, and leaned more into Eldritch Horror, I think they would've knocked it out of the park.

Wow. You look soooooooooooo Lovely today. You're positively GLOWING. LOVE your nails! Anyhow, yes, this was a good season finale with a big Oh S--t ending. I love Rachel Miner's Meg. Love how her voice sounds. Yes, it was heartbreaking to see Bobby go like that. Well, wait till you see Season 8. Supernatural was not the first TV show to have Leviathans as a major threat. Over 4 decades earlier, the Leviathans appeared on Dark Shadows with Michael Sky as the chief villain. Dark Shadows also had Barnabas Collins, a vampire with a soul 30 years before Angel on Buffy The Vampire Slayer. Yes, poor Kevin. You'll have to keep your fingers crossed that he'll make it through Season 8.

So I have mixed feelings about this season, I think there was potential but a lot of it was misused. That filler Amy arc took way to long, it should've been done within two or three episodes without taking away time from the Leviathans. Speaking of which their plan was good and creative but since they didn't much focus their plan felt rushed and it seemed like it escalated quickly without much build up. Sam's whole Hallucifer arc was very good and well acted, I wish their had been more of it and they did a better job slowly showing signs that his condition was getting worse. But speaking of Dean had his own mental health arc, dealing with the depression of Cas "Death" then Bobby's death and the aftermath of Lisa and Ben, but I feel like the writers treated his with less sympathy than Sam's. Everyone from Sam to Bobby to Frank to Ness seem to just tell Dean to get over it, focus on the job and put those feelings aside. No one tole Dean to deal with it, to process it, to take a break and have a mental health day, even though Dean would argue they could argue back and even though they had the Leviathans to deal with they weren't as active so yeah they had time for it. But this season did introduce Garth, Charlie and Kevin and they're some of my favorite characters and I did enjoy some of the filler episodes, plus Dick Roman was a cool villain. Like I said mixed bag, this season wasn't the best, but it wasn't the worse either

Ah season 7. It's a bit of an odd one. I think it might be somewhat underrated. People just remember the Leviathans being a bit of a letdown and this is definitely the point in the series where it's the most obvious that they're trying for a new direction to take the show in that doesn't quite land. Still the more stand alone episodes are generally solid so I don't think it fully deserves it reputation. It's just in the overall ultimately 15 season mythos season 7 is definitely the odd one out. It didn't get 8 more seasons on the back of this season let's put it that way.

Leviathans would have been better villains IMO if a lot of the episodes appeared earlier in the season. Knowing that they could kills angels with a touch and they talk about Lucifer nonchalantly early into the season would have made them better villains. This is probably my least favorite season, but there are some amazing episodes in it.

I think the story behind season 7 and the Leviathans is good but they messed the pacing up. They have a run of bad monster of the week episodes in the middle of the season all together which is what bogs down the whole season.

:Remember you have to seal a demon deal WITH A KISS. Because Dick Roman didn't/refused, there was no deal. And Dick Roman insulted him. James Patrick Stewart was amazing as Dick Roman, even if the rest of the Leviathans sucked (minus Edgar). I'm glad they didn't show Bobby burning, like they normally show a ghost doing. That, to me, would've been harder to see than just letting Bobby go.

Regarding the Leviathans, I really feel that a major problem, for me at least, was that the big master plan felt really ill-suited, or wasted, with these particular villains. Leviathan get hyped as ancient, bigger, hungrier, and yet they never feel like more than just another monster with some fewer weaknesses. I think it would have fit better if a plan like this was carried out by a coalition of monsters, led by a leader with the intelligence to plan this out, and the charisma and strenght to unite different monsters in one scheme. Maybe if they hadn't blown the "mother of monsters" with Eve, then that could have worked; Mother returned to manage her unruly, hungry children. But for Leviathan, the monsters that God locked away, that Death itself warns them about, I just expected something terrifying on a different level.

Yes! Another monster and it would be amazing, but the most ancient monster taking on the most modern approach... it felt off.
@ancatdal
@ancatdal Жыл бұрын
@@trinitybernhardt9944 Exactly, it felt strange to me that the Leviathans of all creatures would be the ones to exploit the systems of a modern world. Why not have some of the monsters who exist alongside humans in the modern world figure out how to exploit the systems? It could even just have been a group of ghouls that have worked carefully to kill and assume the shape of powerful people in order to carry out this plan of turning humans into cattle. This plan feels like a great opportunity to take a preexisting monster, on it's own not that terrifying anymore, and take their abilities to their scariest possible outcome; what could creatures that can shapeshift actually do with some coordination and careful planning? If I was given power to redesign the Leviathans, it would be Leviathan, singular. A single creature spanning multiple vessels. A soul-eater that consumes the souls and then puppets the husk left behind, spreading and spreading, until there is only Leviathan. A creature that in it's trueform dwarfs regular angels, and as it grows on souls come to rival or surpass archangels. And anything that happens to one vessel is known to Leviathan in all vessels, making any scheme against it hard to pull off. Leviathan could be a creature that it would take a coalition of humans, angels, demons and other monsters to take down, because Leviathan will come for them all. Enemy of my enemy, forcing characters that might otherwise never work together to interact on the same side, I think something interesting, and grand, could be done with that, with plenty of interesting interactions and dilemmas.

After some reflection, I stick to my point that season 7 deprived us of most of what is joyful in Supernatural. But I will say that the season is more about Bobby's journey than about the Leviathans. Even if it is not evident as an arc. Same thing as for season 6: the arc was not about Eve or even soulless!Sam: it was about Castiel's journey.

I do feel season 7 is probably the 2nd weakest season, but that just goes to show how great the show is. Their weakest is still pretty decent. I sobbed even watching the clips. You are right about everything with Bobby (though sorry, he only ranks 2 with me on best characters. I won't deny understanding your #1 placement though). Bobby once again shows how amazing he is by deciding to end it himself. I am so glad too though, because had Dean not had him ordering him to do it, I don't think he could have. This was why Dean got so angry when he realized Bobby stayed too. He knew he would be standing there. Dean and his emotions around Cas these last few episodes break my heart. I understand and empathize with both of them. Dean is trying so hard not to lash out in anger. He is still carrying so much anger, but he loves Cas so much. Cas is the only one who could be forgiven after hurting Sam. I am glad he is finally honest and the tough love works. As terrible as what Cas is going through is, you can't just ignore the consequences to your actions. People had many names for this version of Cas. When it aired the direct, slightly offensive one you can probably guess. My favorite is "honeybee Cas" and especially as Dean's line about Cas showing up naked on Baby, covered in bees... the scene wasn't filmed, but it is one of my favorite scenes anyway, because i can picture the whole thing so clearly. Poor Kevin... just sums it up. I love Kevin, but that poor kid. I love Meg. So complicated. So amazing. I prefer Rachel's version. Nicki was amazing, but the character fulfilled a totally different role then, and i love the complicated mess they made with Meg 2.0 Purgatory?!? 😱😱😱 Love that cliffhanger!

Reasons why season 7 is my least favorite season: - First and foremost, this is the season we lose our beloved Bobby.. - The Leviathans are just too OP.. they even beat Angels for crying out loud.. - Cas was missing the majority of the season, and when they brought him back, he was like a lost puppy and unwilling to help until the very end.. - They took baby away the majority of the season.. - Crowley was absent the majority of the season because he was hiding from Dick Roman.. That’s all I can think of atm, but even though these are some reasons why it’s my least favorite season, I still enjoyed the show. I just enjoyed other seasons more than this one is all. I very much enjoy your reactions too and I can’t wait for season 8! ☺️❤️🙌🏼
