Dear Sarah, my name is Carole, I am a French Canadian from Ottawa Canada (Our Capital)...I have been an ELVIS fan for 60 years....yes, you read correctly, 60 Years. I am now 71 and terminally ill. All the reactors that I go to, who play Elvis, I listen to. You seem like a wonderful and compassionate woman. This particular video that you are watching was done in 1993. It was telecast, via satellite, around the world at the same time. It had never been done and has never been done since. That just gives you a little idea how SPECIAL Elvis was. I was lucky enough to meet people who played with him on stage, in his Vegas years and have been to Graceland. My dear Sarah, please keep on going down the "Elvis Rabbit Hole" as they call it, as he is totally worth it. He had a voice that has never been and will never be again. Not only his voice, but his presence on stage and his charisma. He also had a great sense of humor. Which I find wonderful when you are considered the KING. I have been a hairstylist and a make-up artist and let me tell you, Elvis had the perfect face....not just me saying that because I have always loved him, but as a professional in the field. I could go on forever but of course I cannot...I only hope you get to read this to understand his greatness. I know children who are 4- 5 years old who love him....His legend will live on. All the best to you and may you stay happy and yourself !!!!!

When he said "no-one would care, no-one would cry, if I should live or die" how wrong he was. He is mourned every day since his untimely death and tears are still shed for him. I fell in love with Elvis when I was 6 years old but kept that to my self for many years because of the scorn and ridicule many adults displayed towards him. You might like to see his early performances on the Ed Sullivan show when he was so very young and beautiful.

It is a very powerful heartfelt song as Elvis' marriage was over. His wife Priscilla told him in 1972 that she was leaving him. The concert event that this footage was taken occurred in January of 1973. Elvis was living that song when he sang it. There will NEVER be anyone to come close to Elvis in looks, talent and that voice was incredible to say the least. In my opinion, he had the voice of an angel. I was lucky enough to experience it live. Mesmerizing!!!!

Your reaction was beautiful. Continue to listen more. He was going thru a divorce at this time. I have listened to Elvis since 1956 but only got to this Aloha concert 1973 that was broadcasted around the world and seen by 1.5 Billion people I sat 3rd row center n couldn't take my eyes off of him I was 21. He was n always will be the best entertainer of all time. I never met Elvis but became good friends with Charlie Hodge his confidant and best friend for years after Elvis died n he told me many great things about Elvis. I kept a journal on the stories that he told me. It tells Elvis life story. This man went from very poor to fame so fast. He said he didn't really care about all the millions he made( today he would have been a multi billionaire) He was the most generous man giving away most of his money, trips, Jewelry, Cadillacs, Motorcycles n people in need. The list goes on. I will give you a few favorite songs of mine to react to, American Trilogy Aloha concert 1973, Bridge Over Troubled Water Vagus 1970, Suspicious Minds Vagus 1970( the best performance of this song) I'll Remember You Aloha concert 1973, Make The World Go Away Vagus 1970. You Gave Me A Mountain Aloha concert 1973, n over 500 more so you have a long way to go. I think you can see I'm big fan of his. Thank you for keeping Elvis music alive.

4 1/2 years later he was gone. This was on my birthday Jan 14 1973. I was 17. Watched the entire show on TV with my mom! Satellite show from Hawaii. Later I had the live album for years. He spent weeks before the show live broadcast in Hawaii, working out, swimming dieting, etc. . . and losing weight to be in shape for this show. He did it for his fans, he didn't want them to see him overweight and in lousy condition. That took guts. Then afterward everything went to hell, he gained weight and had drug problems. Sad, what a loss, he died way too young. if he never sang another note after this point, I would have rather had him alive, healthy and happy. I would have said the same for Michael Jackson as well. Why did I say all this? I lost my younger brother in 2020 from years of being obese, bad heart. If you need help, get the help, lose the weight, get healthy while your young, and have a flaming chance, ...only YOU can make you do it.

Nice reaction Sarah. Far from his most famous song (this was from a Hawaii charity concert in Jan 73) but as you say it shows his power at his prime. Without doubt the most influential performer in modern music it was interesting to hear your admission that you knew nothing of him (thats not a criticism by the way) . You will read many comments testifying to how great he was, and theyre not wrong. He covered more styles of music than any performer I can think of, nobody else comes close. Rock and Roll (the most significant contributor, it can be argued he really defined the path of early rock and roll) blues, gospel, country, pop, rock. He did them all. The list of recommendations is truly astonishing. Dive in and wonder. What a voice.
