I saw a video on the Mexican indigenous people who sanctified the land by walking barefoot and saying thank you, thank you with each footstep. I love the thought of walking in my ancestors footsteps and I give thanks for them when I do. It's just a way to honor our ancestors. And I know that they're with me when I do this. Isn't it amazing that you are drawn to this place. It's like a soul memory.

Moravian Falls is about an hour west of me. Beautiful country. I've lived in North Carolina all of my long life and I'm hoping that doesn't ever have to change. If you look into the history of the Moravian church, you'll see it's closely tied to Winston Salem, which is only about 20 minutes from me. Moravians are lovely people.

My grandmother, and great grandmother were stewards of my family history. My mother and aunt (her youngest sister) family on my mother's settled in CA in 1742 via Spain then New Mexico.. My father's 1800, via Vera Cruz Mexico.

Moravians are Protestants, from the Czech Republic.The denomination was founded in the 15th century. And this area has the last congregation. History is fascinating!

Winston-Salem is another place in NC with Moravian roots. I am not one who goes to church, but if I did, I would likely try to join a Moravian church. The Moravian Love Feast traditions are beautiful.
