Gabriel was "killed" by an angel blade and we saw it not working many times on Lucifer, they reveal he wasn't dead at the same time they introduce the archangel blade, mading it pretty clear that angel blade couldn't had killed him.

@@angelaholmes8888 Lucifer and particularly Mark Pellegrino coming back was mostly due to Buckleming. They had him sign a long seasons-long contract and tried to do the weird semi-redemption arc because they are friends with the actor. It doesn't work imo and actually leads to my least favorite storyline in the entire show - Nick.
