This is the first season finale without Bobby, from S1 to S7. Watching this episode in real-time, when they showed the Singer salvage yard and the boys momentarily stop to look at Bobby's car without saying a word before Crowley appears, I actually gasp and can feel a sob coming up, back in the day ...

I love Crowley and his character. All of it. And I'm glad he pulled his smartass evil self together further on :D That scene with angels falling gives me chills every time I watch it. I just imagine that happening in real life, and it's terrifying. Probably my fave scene in the whole series ever.

They are capable and willing to take care of demons and ghosts and all that, the whole point was to never have to do that again. The thing is though, that Dean would rather have his brother and a horde of demons over no brother and no demons ever again. This trial was going to kill him if it was completed. Sam saw this, Sam saw the genuine fear in Dean's eyes and changed his mind, besides, it's looking like Demons aren't going to be as big of a problem as angels, now. This is my favorite episode of season 8, so intense, so much emotion, it's just really great writing.

I know Its one life over billions but if not for that life billions would have died in the past.He stopped the apocalypse. I think sam deserves to live. I’m not mad Dean went and stopped him. I am glad they have each other. Thats the least they can get with everything they have to do its so crazy though lol. Thanks for your reactions they are awesome 😁.

From a viewer standpoint, I was thinking the same thing: IT'S ONE LIFE. But for Dean, who has only ever had Sam, that one life means more to him than the billions. Basically every choice on this show has a branch stem from it. Dean has always had a harder time letting people go, more so than Sam. If roles were reversed, the series might've ended here at season 8 because Dean would've sacrificed himself no problem, and Sam probably would've let him. The scene of Cas looking up at the falling angels gives me chills every time. Used to be my desktop wallpaper lol

I never understood why they would even think closing the gates to hell would fix everything. Not like vampires, werewolf's, shapeshifters, wendigo's and every other monster on earth would still be on earth. Not to count all the ghosts that are made everyday. Taking demons out of the equation dose nearly nothing like demons are barely even a blip on the monster radar. It would honestly change nothing.

Agree partially. None of the other demons have ever been as ambitious as Crowley is. All they did was follow a few "guidelines" to bring back Lucifer and appear for souls here and there. He might not be slaughtering 12 nuns at once (who eventually most likely to go to Heaven), but Crowley's Hell is quite literally the worst one for humanity. He created a major influx of souls to Hell which also makes Hell more powerful.

@@lightefilit yes true Crowley has made hell well hell but closing the gates in no way means a normal life. All the kept talking about was how people can have a normal life once all the demons are gone like hunters won't need to hunt anymore and the world will be all sunshine and rainbows.

I agree partially also. Taking demons off the board would be a big win I feel. Demons in this universe can only be killed by angels, the knife, and the angel blade. The colt as well but that shit is lost, I’m on season 9 as of right now, so from what I know so far the colt has just vanished. Demons have very few actual weaknesses, where as those monsters you mentioned could indeed be killed. Still not worth the sacrifice tho I’d say. It was a good call on Dean

He was tricked. Cas is amazing and his character is amazing because he always tries to do the right thing. Even here he does, but as I stated unfortunately he is tricked. The Winchesters have been tricked before as well. It's a great running theme in the show, people/beings just trying to do their best.

The reason y I don't like this whole season is bcoz of this dumb ass ending . These two have made sacrifices throughout every season and Dean doesn't want sam to die this season makes no sense. It's his one life so that earth can be rid off all demons . Hate this finale so much so many people died for no reason just so that Dean can stop sam from doing the damn thing 🤦

Yes!!! As much as I love Sam, and I'm glad he's still here, this just doesn't made sense. For me, this is where Supernatural started to lose it's way. I still love it, and watch every episode, but the boys just don't feel as authentic anymore.
