It's a sausage fest, for the most part so it's understandable. Early SPN might not have been like that, but that is pretty much what it's been since season 5 onward.

The only real time I ever noticed someone was shocked that I, a guy, watch SPN was in Walmart. I was flirting with the cashier and her SPN shirt was showing under the Walmart shirt. So I commented on it and she said her favorite Winchester was Dean. My response was a hair flip accompanied by "What, no love for Moose?" I think her jaw hit the floor after she realized I watch the show. Of course I followed with, "Sam and Dean are cool but my favorite Winchester would have to be Mary." It was a successful attempt at flirting if I do say so myself.

I think it's that the dudes don't go to conventions as much as the chicks. Surveys in past years have actually shown that more men watch than women, though it's possible that's changed in more recent years. I'd say around 50/50, though, personally.

I am a man in my mid 40's and I have watched the show since the beginning. I think that men are just a lot less likely to swoon over actresses and actors, so they are a lot less likely to attend things like this. Most actors and actresses that I have met were through work and I have met a lot.

I'm glad they don't. They'd regulate these kinds of vids much more harshly and people who don't get to go to Cons wouldn't get to see them. Great if you're a businessperson in that industry, bad for the show's publicity and for the people who can't make it to the Cons. The money-grab is what kills most things in the end, whether it's a business, show, or film.

The idea that girls don't like paranormal or sci fi type media is a myth. When star trek first started their fanbase was mostly women. I think the spn fanbase is 50/50 but I definitely think women are more likely to go to the Supernatural conventions than men.

Please allow me to mansplain how this is a "girl show" while simultaneously complimenting it. This is a girl show because it has a lot of "pretty" people discussing drama. Even though the drama is supernatural in nature, it is presented in a way where the emotions of the characters are very pronounced. It might be gory, and there is definitely some violence, but hopefully you realize that those elements alone aren't what grab the attention of a male audience. This show is good at presenting the close relationship of these brothers and the trials they go through. Its good, but the target audience is people who like to see relationship development, aka females.
