Shay Richardson was a common criminal, but was arrested. To lower his prison sentence he does community service for those in need. At the time his prison sentence was complete, Shay was affected by solar energy comming from a ustable solar reactor. The solar energy empowered Shay making him a solar human. Shay was given strength, speed, durability, flight, and able to manipulate his own personal solar energy. Shay thought he could redeem himself by becoming a hero, but the public doesn't trust him and believes he's a supervillain(similar to how people like Lex Luthor says Superman is dangerous in My Adventures With Superman or how people think that the Hulk is a savage monster). Shay does have a agressive personality if he get's so angry he cause a solar explosion. Shay is also able to survive and fly in space by putting a solar aura around himself. some of the characters in the inspirational images are usally angry, so Shay would be a kind of wrathful hero.

@ Dana Terrace confirmed Amity to be lesbian, shipping her with boys is what I consider fanart/fanfiction instead actually canon.
