How does a stranded orca end up in someone's possession? And that in 2023!? In the 1960s and 70s, people didn't know a lot of what we know today and caught orcas, that they consider their offspring as property is one thing, but the fact that in 2023 you are claiming ownership of an animal that belongs to your family, that is sick . That an animal gets stranded somewhere and instead of doing everything to get it back into the wild, someone claims it and it suddenly becomes someone's property!?

If an orca is deemed by the government to be non-releasable, it is then against the law to release it. Releasing an animal like Morgan would also be detrimental to her health as well as the health of the ecosystem she would be released to.

If she is released to a sanctuary (and I really hope she is) what are the chances of her family passing through again? And what are the chances of them recognising each other and her being able to rejoin the pod?

extremely low as the only related member of her pod was a male found back in 2012, her pod wasn't found

If she is stopped performing in shows what will she do all day with no activity until you can get her into a santuary. Also if she is deaf how will she learn to find food in a sanctuary without echo location ,or will you always have to feed her in the proposed sanctuary. What actually is the best outcome for Morgan?

I think they should put her in an ocean sanctuary in the PNW where she can be taken care of but still free to roam in a larger area. What we did with Keiko IMO was not as successful because he always missed his human interaction and he never connected with wild orcas. I think he was happy in OR.

The chances are zero. She is from a Norwegian pod and the Sanctuary is supposed to be in North America, Nova Scotia area. Plus not trying to be a mood breaker here but none of the Orcas that are kept in captivity are “ normal” anymore. They all develop psychotic symptoms, ticks and neurotic behavior. Compare it to solitary confinement of a human just 4 times more intense since Orcas feel everything 4 times more and stronger than humans do. You wouldn’t want those Orcas back among other Orcas and I am certain that their pods would reject them.

@@leylag1466 They may be low, but *never* zero.

@raphmaster23 no I am not. Toki aka Lolita passed away this past August and Kiska passed some time ago. Toki passed away just days or weeks before she was to be sent to a seapen

Release dolphins and orcas!! Self harming is the owners fault. You people are brutal. Shame on you
