We are a gay couple considering moving to Italy. For the income minimums do they recognize gay marriage? Suppose one of the people does not have the minimum income requirement, but the other person meets the minimum income requirement?

@@MrVmadonna We are in the same position and were wondering the very same thing. I had read that marriage was not recognized, but a civil union was. We have been together for over 20 years, but we have neither. I wonder if you have a documented civil union would that qualify you as a couple?

QUESTION : Hi Chris, thank you for your video and helpful information. I am just beginning to research the elective residence visa and have a question about the passive income requirement. Would you happen to know if that passive income , of 31,000 Euros is gross or net income? Before or after taxes? I did pose this question, by emain, to the Italian consulate in Canada and, so far have not gotten a response. Super helpful video! Thank you.

Very Nice Informative Videos. Here are a few Questions to also address in future Videos. 1. Retiring to Italy with one person being an Italian Citizen. What's the specifics? Income Requirement? Elective Residency or Permission of Stay? 2. Supplemental Health Insurance is just for the Non-Citizen or can Both get it?

It is my understanding that there is no income requirement. Pete is an EU citizen and I am getting an immigration card so we did not have to show proof of earnings. Form what I understand you do not need an ERV but you will need a permesso di soggiorno. I had to do some other paperwork but we used Nick Metta and it was all provided. He is a great contact to double check these things. Both can get a private insurance plan.

As I have said, I'm in the process of seeking Recognition as an Italian Citizen and If We choose to Retire to Italy then I can do so without any problem but since it will be the Both of Us, I have to be concerned. Also about the Supplemental Helath Insurance, is there just 1 level or a few different levels of coverage which would also reflect the Annual Price?

@@mr.dsproductreviewchannel my suggestion as I'm a dual citizen and I've been researching for a wile and moving soon if one of you has a citizenship when you get to Italy apply for residency it takes 30 days as soon as you receive it go to the Comune and merry the non citizen and will receive the tax id and medical card way faster.Btw if you are married in the States like me it's ok to merry in Italy since your USA marriage it's not recognized there.

I already have My Italian Tax Code that was Issued to Me from the Italian Consulate here in New York. I just don't have the Card.

@@mr.dsproductreviewchannel I was married in N.Y. too but born in Italy, as long as you have the citizenship once you get to Italy get the residency of the township after you receive it you can merry your present wife there as well and she would be automatically eligible for citizenship too it's the fasted and cheeper way to do this.

If you are a citizen it is not. I believe you will need a permesso di soggiorno which you can get from your commune but it is best to double check wtih the commune where you want to be.

Hi Teresa. I might be able to help you with WISE. My wife and I are going through this whole process for about a year now. We found our home through Chris and Super Savvy Travelers in Santa Domenica Talao. It has been a really wonderful process. WISE (it used to be called Transferwise) is a banking transfer app (application you add to your phone). You connect it to your bank account and it securely transfers money from you to whomever you need to pay. It is like Zelle or other Cash Apps that allow you to send money. WISE is used a lot in Europe as it is popular internationally and the fees are MUCH lower than what banks charge. I am NOT an expert as I only started using it about a year ago. Here is a helpful link to a site that explains how to use it - what it is - including KZbin videos that are really easy to follow. I hope this helps. This is the link. THIS IS NOT the WISE page for the app nor is it where I would sign up for the WISE app. This is a company that compares different transfer applications. Wise isn't really a bank, it's an account to hold your money in different currencies. You can link it to your existing bank account to transfer money between it and your Wise account easily. Check out wise.com for more information. We kept our old phone numbers, but for lower-cost local calls and lower-cost data, you can get a SIM card from a local telecom provider like TIM or Vodaphone (but you will have to unlock your existing phone or get a new one to use that SIM card).

Hi Teresa wise is a good account to open online, What I did is open a Charles Shwab checking account they will give you an ATM card you can use worldwide to make ATM withdrawals and they reimburse any charges and it's unlimited you have to be a USA citizen to open such account. Wise does charge a fee.
