@ Randi Sierra, You must keep in mind that Tippi-despite the image she carefully cultivates in public-spends A LOT of time and money to keep her skin smooth and as wrinkle-free as possible. Unlike Melanie, Tippi NEVER goes outdoors without sunscreen, ever. She also has had some cosmetic work done, but she kept it subtle

I feel that Americans are so much more open, warm and direct with each other than the rest of us. They are really great qualities. This concept of mums and daughters talking may seem a bit schmaltzy, but actually it isn't, it's very beautiful and moving. You can tell how much these two radiantly lovely women love each other and whatever differences may occur, they have the guts and compassion to talk things through. A big object lesson.

@ Balcon Frances and MANILABOY6631, Melanie didn't age as well as Tippi for a number of reasons, not the least of which is that Melanie's life-primarily because of the men she has married- has been highly stressful both physically and emotionally. Both of Melanie's ex-husbands literally put her body through the wringer, constantly dragging her out into all kinds of harsh weather, especially Antonio Banderas who is a sun-worshipper. Unlike her mother who has always taken meticulous care of her fragile Scandinavian complexion, Melanie has never bothered with sunscreen and when she was married to Banderas she was constantly outdoors in the harsh, full sunlight. Both her face and body took a terrible beating from all that sun exposure. On the other hand, Tippi has minimal sun exposure except in connection with her periodic inspection of the facility...and every time she is outdoors she wears sunscreen. LOOK at how pale Tippi's complexion is in comparison to that of her daughter's. Another major reason that Melanie aged rapidly is because when she was married to Banderas he was on her case CONSTANTLY about her weight, even when she was pregnant! He actually encouraged Melanie to smoke throughout her pregnancy in an effort to keep her weight down! He also encouraged her to CONTINUE smoking afterward, again to keep her weight down! Throughout much of their marriage, Melanie was VERY depressed (no wonder!) and her looks were the least of her concern. In contrast, Tippi has spent the majority of her life doing exactly what SHE wants to do, without concerning herself much over the needs and demands of others....including her family! It's well known in Hollywood that Tippi's career came first, and during the years when she was a certified box office star she was away from her family A LOT of the time. She was never a "hands on" kind of mother and never a doting, devoted wife. Furthermore, Tippi would NEVER allow any man to drag her about at will, browbeat her about her appearance and especially NOT treat her like an unpaid whore, which is exactly how Don Johnson and Antonio Banderas treated Melanie! Tippi is a very self-absorbed person, and her major love in life is animals, not people. In contrast, Melanie loves and cares about PEOPLE-especially her family-and has always been willing to put herself out in an effort to please those she loves. That takes a toll on anyone, and she is no exception. IMHO that makes Melanie vastly MORE beautiful than her mother has ever been, period.

Thats because Melanie did a lot of cocaine in the 80's. Director Mike Nichols of 'Working Girl' almost fired her because she looked too bloated on camera (a side effect of detoxing from cocaine) . When Melanie aged she aged faster since hard drugs takes it tole on your appearance and plastic surgeons botched her nose and face surgeries...
