Another super-interesting video! Is it generally considered rude to point at other people in Mongolia? When I was growing up (in Australia) I was always told that it was rude to point at people, and it’s considered slightly aggressive to point your finger at people when you’re speaking to them. I really like the Asian custom of giving items with both hands - it does seem more respectful. 😊 Superstitions about harm coming to your mother aren’t so strong in English-speaking countries, but there is a children’s rhyme about avoiding cracks in the pavement that goes “Step on a crack, break your mother’s back”! Life is dangerous for mothers! 😂😂 In the past, there were a lot of superstitions relating to whistling in English culture - it was considered back luck to whistle on a sailing ship because you may whistle up the wind and it was bad luck for women to whistle because they may whistle up the Devil! 😮😂

Yes, pointing fingers at other people is considered rude in Mongolia. Instead, when pointing someone, you can point with your palm facing up.

I was told white dogs are bad luck in the countryside when I lived in Mongolia. People would spit at my dog when we walked by. It was surprising! Have you heard of that?
