that F9 is a tritone sub for B7. V-I cadence B7-E7 (having that I as a secondary dominant) then resolving to tonic Am. that was genius! A harmonic minor will work as well.

Look for F7 (9) instead, you'll have no trouble finding it. But you could also play a simple F7 and it should work.

It is A minor, the D minor scale in this context would be the Phrygian Scale.
