Supervision in Manual Falling: Support for Supervisors | WorkSafeBC

Supervisors play a key role in the forestry industry in British Columbia, helping to make sure hand fallers return home safe at the end of the day. This video explains that everyone has a role to play in faller safety, and that when licensees and prime contractors support supervisors it demonstrates that they respect the authority supervisors have in the field. Support for supervisors is good for business, and employers see a return on investment when they give supervisors the resources they need to do the job.

I’ve had the pleasure of learning under very professional supervision in the field. Policy and “on the spot” decisions by supervisors are sometimes not the same. Passion, care and safety are paramount to a work environment in any occupation. Stay safe everyone!

I had 0 authority being a supervisor. I was an employed babysitter with no power to fire anyone and a mock "write-up" system that did nothing; and hardly any support from my boss. I was counted on to just put my signature on safety inspection documentation. The disregard for safety had to be blatant before my boss did anything about it. A tip to anyone offered a supervisor like "promotion", ask the other supervisors what it's like.

These guys need to do a surprise visit at a place I know. Safety hazards all over the place. No one seems to care as long as money is being made. 1 person has already died in this dump years ago. It's a shame GREED is more important than people's lives.
