Ensuring health equity for rural Native American cancer survivors is a daily struggle in our rural tribal communities. This video informs health systems, oncologists, cancer nurse navigators, and other providers on SDOH risk factors that impact rural Native American cancer survivors and their families. The risk factors include, but are not limited to include geographic isolation, lower socioeconomic status, higher rates of health risk behaviors, limited access to healthcare specialists and subspecialists, cultural barriers to care, and health literacy on their cancer journey. The Inter-Tribal Council of Michigan is grateful to the members of the Hannahville Indian Community who shared their stories.
