You're one of the few comprehensive vids on dysgraphia....well any vid that mentions the motor skills component!

I was diagnosed with Dysgraphia (dyslexia but mainly impacting my written skills) when I was around 13-14 (over 20 years ago). My handwriting has never really improved and while readable it looks like something an 8 year old would do. I don't have the issues with getting my ideas down as I was given a laptop to use at school instead of handwriting for most of my work (very rare at the time) which helped tremendously and I feel that most of my other aspects of dyslexia apart from my handwriting no longer impact me. I am a slightly slower reader than average, but nothing like it use to effect me.

I had a therapy for this in elementary and my teacher was very rough with me and would get mad when I hold it wrong. That was the first and last time I went and till this day I have bad hand writing.

Huh. I never realized there was a name for this condition. I've had this problem every since I was treated for a brain tumor back in '13. I tend to mix up b's and p's when I type.

my mum thinks i have it and we are llooking ffor a diagnosis, i'm in 7th ggrade and my handwriting hhasn't evolved since i was in 3d grade. i have almsot every symptom and it makes a lot of ssense, with the mix of lower case ans upper case i mix them up a lot, i spell things wrong, my writing sspeed and copying speed are very slow, i write letters backwords in some cases, and more. it would make a lot of sense to why i struggle in sschool and why i get so angry when tteachers tell me to fix my writing or take away points for lazy hhandwriting.

My daughter was diagnosed several years ago, not by her school, but by her Pediatric neurodevelopmental physician. You should have an IEP from your school, so you can get support. She has learned to use the resources available to her, now that she is in her Freshman year at HS. It's a ton of hard work, but you can get helped, don't be discouraged, you are not alone.

S A K U R A C H A N I was diagnosed as a dyslexic as an adult from my therapist. That diagnosis really helped put the pieces of the puzzle together with my lifelong struggles of learning and remembering things. Give therapy a try about this!

please dear god don't make children use pencil grips. I winced so hard just hearing that phrase and remembering the horrible cramps those little instruments of torture used to give me, and it was almost 20 years ago my little hitler of a year 1 teacher used to force those awful things on me no matter how much they hurt me
