My new favorite HOLIDAY deck! 🤩 The Yuletide Tarot by Kristoffer Hughes

It warms my heart to see someone get as equally excited about this deck as I am. I purchased it back in October when it was on sale ( I think I paid $22.00 dollars for it ) but didn't open it until December 1st. What I thought would serve as a light/fluffy holiday deck turned into a straight shooting truth teller. This is not a hug deck. It's been kicking my butt for 2 weeks now. It's wonderful paired with Seasons of the Witch Yule edition too. The amalgamation of the various holiday celebrations works beautifully. I feel you could use this deck way into January. It's not just for the Christmas Yule season. The guidebook is quite in depth as well. I think everyone could learn something from it. I wouldn't say it's a good deck for someone who's a complete beginner but if you've been reading for a little while, it's easy to figure out the various name and suit changes. I highly recommend it. Lisa- I was hesitant on buying this deck… I paused at the description of the Matrona , bought the deck, and came back for the rest. It’s the guidebook and the mix of all the traditions that convinced me. Thanks so much for this!!

I was thinking about the candy canes and about peppermint, so with swords being air, this connects to air with the scent of peppermint (because scent is perceived through the air) !!!! So maybe that connection would be meaningful to someone else. Because I got very excited. 😂

For the Eight of Candles card - direction, promise, and momentum. This card actually works for me! It reminds me of the advent wreath (Christmas), the menorah (Hanukkah), and the kinara (Kwanzaa). For all of them you light a candle that represents passage of time (a day or a week) and is like a countdown to the holiday! The candles have more meaning than being a countdown but I only celebrate Christmas and it’s been years since we’ve done this tradition. but as a child I remember taking turns with my sister lighting the candles in the advent wreath each Sunday with anticipation for Christmas building up more and more each week ❤

Does the guidebook mention these traditions? I really do feel like this is a great depiction for the bit you read from the book and for what you said the Eight of Wands means to you!

I don't know that I personally could justify a tarot just for the christmas season, but it seems really well done. love the magus card and the mari lwyd. the art is gorgeous too.

I have about 100 decks but haven't found a Christmas deck that I feel really captivates the spirit of Christmas. And this deck really does have the depth, history and spirit of Christmas. Love the painting style. And it's a deck that's appropriate for children and for our inner child. And I appreciate Lisa's enthusiasm and excitement for this deck.

Oh the mushroom is fly agaric and it is the one that reindeers eat and shamans drank the pee! One of the reasons we think that people visioned reindeers flying!!!!

I love the color palette on this deck! I don't see myself being able to use it personally at this time (too many other decks to use at the moment) but I totally agree with you on how it brings you into a spiritual holiday place but it's not one version. I really enjoy how the guidebook is written! I never would've known that if not for you sharing. 💜

I appreciate you defending Llewelyn decks. I like the guide books bc of the large image. Have poor eyesight and I really appreciate being able to study the large image. I like this deck a lot, received it last year for Yule. I have other decks and books from Hughes. I love his writing. And the Bee tarot swiftly became so important to me. This Yuletide deck is wonderful and so much deeper than the theme might initially seem. Enjoy your work with it. Thanks for sharing your enthusiasm!☺️

If you pull one more from the Cottage Witch then you'll have 44 cards rather than 43.... You mentioned in another video that Oracle decks should have at least 44 cards, LOL. I've been on the fence about this deck because I didn't want anything that was too happy happy joy joy American Christmas, but this deck looks safe. Also, I need a Texas winter deck. Snow filled decks, though beautiful, seem useless when you're only an hour outside of Houston, LOL.

I live in San Antonio. And yes, I agree we need a Texas deck. For all seasons. When I moved to Texas, (married a Texan) I felt as if I had moved to a different planet. And an Australian Christmas deck would also be very interesting.

Oooooh I didn't get to really fully explore his writing in the Bee Tarot because I got squicked out by the artwork (too many bees on people). But I am super impressed by his writing in this deck!!

@@Lisa_Papez understood about the bees on people reaction. However, reading the guidebook may help you overcome it as it did me Christopher‘s partner is a beekeeper as as a friend of mine. I showed my deck to that friend, and he said he is quite used to the bees being all over him and actually enjoys the energy. He gets being amongst them in that way once I saw it as a shared energy and a symbiotic relationship I completely lost money phobia about the deck . I hope you have a chance to read the guidebook. It’ll be able to use the deck. It is fabulous.

Lisa, absolutely love all the gushing! I knew I had to have this Yuletide deck right after I used his Bee 🐝 tarot last summer. His guidebooks are fabulous and I’m really drawn into the artwork too. I can’t believe that you and I have picked the same Oracle pairing too with exception of the woodpecker. You and I selected the same cards to combine for the season. What’s really working for me is that I am reading your book at the same time as I am delving into this deck. Right now, I am going through the numerology parts of your book and combining that understanding with the way Hughes does his chapters numerologically is perfection. Additionally, I have chosen to use the Wildwood deck as my study deck in January and again you and I are on the same page as it is your membership study for this month how perfect ! I also thought of using the same Winter deck as you for January but I am not in snowy Canada, and instead in sunny California. So I saved that additional expense to put into my Christmas gifts this month 🤣 🌲 can’t wait to see your video on how it went for you in December. I am loving the deck already and I expect more gushing from you then. I am all here for the gushing 🤣 thank you for your wonderful videos!
