Just wanted to let you know, I went out and purchased The Most solely because of your channel, and loved it! Influencer or not, you do make an impact and you bring lesser known titles to light, for me at least. So thanks!

I read The Snow Child when it first came out and loved it too. My husband and I weren’t able to safely get pregnant due to my chronic illness, so I understood their longing viscerally. But we’d just adopted our kiddo, so the couple bringing home their child deeply resonated too. It’s one of the few books I remember from that long ago. I can’t wait to read her next! Her stories are so full of love. I need distraction from the horrors of the past few weeks, to stop myself from doomscrolling, and I Might Be in Trouble sounds perfect for that. I’m looking forward to seeing what you think! My last escape was The Wedding People, and it did the trick. I might need to read fluff for the next four years.

I hope I Might Be in Trouble offers the distraction you need. I totally get it! That's a very sweet experience of The Snow Child. Ivey's work definitely seems to be full of love.

Greg, I have to tell you - you are an influencer! There are so many books I read this year that I first heard about on your channel (and even more on my TBR.) You describe book lists as tools of discovery and your videos are my tool of discovery. 😉 I actually just read The Most because when you talked about it on the National Book Award long list video it sounded interesting and my library hold just came up! I agree with you that it was a very smart book and the section on the book’s title just knocked me out.

I’ve been on a short story collection/ novella kick because this month is insanely busy and the shorter length books are less intimidating to start when I know I have limited reading time. Right now I’m reading the Antarctica short story collection by Claire Keegan but The Most sounds right up my alley so maybe that will be my next read! It’s not an end of year list but I was really intrigued by the Aspen Words long list. Lots of books I’ve heard of and have wanted to read, just as many I hadn’t heard of and thought sounded super interesting. I won’t get to any of them until January but the list has me looking forward to reading in the new year.

That’s a smart way to end the year. I am hoping to read Antarctica at some point. I’ll check out the Aspen Words list!

I'm reading "Martyr" and enjoying so far but it isn't a light read! I have lots of cinnamon bun christmas romances for the rest of the month and also "The Wood at Midwinter"! I am #1 on the waiting list for "The Most" and I've requested "The Snow Child" at the library!

I really enjoyed The Snow Child. It was lovely. I found it very atmospheric. I swear I felt the cold and the crunch of old snow under my feet.

I am listening to How to Be A good Creature by Sy Montgomery. I started reading it but changed to audio. She does an excellent job bringing it to life.

Ben Greene is a great person to read if you are young and trans. He had activism thrust upon him, being the only trans person at his school, and had to grow up very fast. He says it was like trying to cobble together a parachute on a plane with engine trouble, so now he owns a parachute factory.
