Looks like the big loyalist push deep into blackheart's territory in the south west didn't take out any ME's and really just gave him the easily accessible mass required to leapfrog ahead. Obfuscation won the battles in the neck but was actually winning too early, leaving the reclaim in no man's land, in range of enemy arty, so couldn't capitalize on the victories. Great game, really shows the depth of SC.

+allmhuran Yeah, and against a skilled player like Blackheart, even very well coordinated drops become feeding if you dont pay attention to the math of whether each drop was worth it. Blodir needed to play more offense with firebases etc if he wanted to turtle although between his air force and nuke its hard to criticize the force he ended up using because it was so very solid defensively.

If only Obfuscation had used the nuke right from the start to take out Blackheart's Scathis. He had finished it just as Blackheart finished his Scathis and that way he wouldn't have lost his strat-bombers, while simultaneoulsy buying himself the time to finish his own Scathis. Great game either way.

+Taterio I'm guessing he either expected Strat defense to be in place at that point and the nuke was a desperation play (I mean, a Scathis and no nuke defense is a bit crazy), or he didn't know the sheer extent the AA net had been built up to and wanted to use the nuke as a knockout blow follow up. Hard to say! Both of these guys are way, way above my level.

Should have focused on building the nuke after he got 1 through. Also: why did he not use his 5 t3 bombers to kill the com. He had air control for like 15 minutes, no sams in sight.

+Chris S Yep, good question. He might have avoided the comm snipe due to all the T3 AA north of where Blackheart had nested his comm, but even if he didn't go for the comm, he could've smashed the relatively undefended 4x T3 mass extractors in the middle of BH's base and won on eco right there. This game is genius - It perfectly fits the military paradigm of, "He who makes the least mistakes in war, wins." Hats off to Chris Taylor for creating the perfect RTS.

Blodir could have ended the game at 15:48 - He had crossed Blackheart's "T" as Black's units came around the middle crater in his base. Pathfinding logic was driving all of BH's units directly into the massed firepower of Blodir's units, but Blod continued moving his unit mass south into BH's resourcing. If Blod has simply stopped his attack at the point where he'd crossed BH's T, it could've been over early. Not trying to be a douchy, I-told-ya-so armchair QB, just commenting on how things played out.

+Venom Not just the big push - it was painful to watch Blackheart losing so many Loyalists to Strats while they were camping in the middle. A few dotted Bouncers would have cost Blodir a strat or two every pass. Instead, Blackheart dotted the left flank with SAMs which never fired a single shot. Those could/should have been Bouncers - they are cheaper and mobile. SAMs are better for base defense but not for the outside perimeters and front.

People just have taste in design, that's all. Not saying that Aeon is bad in that regard, but you know, not as good. Sera doesn't have a design, like, at all, it's just chassis, hull and gun piled together. And UEF is just... "So yeah, guys, I was feeling pretty bad lately, so here, blocks and slopes, have fun designing yoselves, I'm sure you'll do just fine", then designer was found hanging.
