Almost the same exact expirience happened to me three months ago at 22 years old, after doing just a dozen guided meditations(found on youtube) aimed at awakening kundalini energy in a span of a week. Day before my clear vision of God and whole universe and me as one with it as most intense white light I cried my guts out in regret of my past mistakes(egoism, violence, hate, anger, vengefullnes) and I also saw and felt my father approaching before he came into the house as Yogananda saw a cow. This vision was preceded by my hearth felt monologue aimed at conversing with God and as it seems He answered. Before this I was an atheist and Richard Dawkins fan ughhh, now I am fan of God and his divine creation which is in each and every thing and being. For three days after the expirience I had crazy and orgasmic vibratory current trough my spine and head and now my goal is to have it back.

Not societal Hinduism as much as yogic. Generally all mainstream religion is poor and full of stupidity, not all people are able to know the truth so it's needed and it works. Better to believe than be trapped in egoism and physical but knowing is the best.

I read his autobiography many years ago at the tender age of 20. It was enthralling and it liberated so much energy that I didn't sleep for 3 days. A great book. His description of cosmic consciousness and of the Self matched exactly what I'd been shown in a samadhi I'd been given a couple of years before. If you ever get a chance to visit his Lakeside Shrine in Pacific Palisades (Los Angeles) California do so. It's a beautiful peaceful place.

Oh the wisdom of a wise teacher! This lovely reunion reminds me of Jesus' story of the lost son, who on returning to his father having squandered his wealth on reckless living, was bemoaned by his elder faithful brother after a feast was prepared for his younger brother's return. Wisely the father answered his faithful son; "Son, you are always with me, and all that I have is yours ........for your brother was dead and is alive again, and was lost and is found." The bliss is always there. Meditating on the source keeps one always in bliss....Find the source- the true self...1000 years of meditation doesn't mean anything if one fails to reach the source. Such meditation gives one glimpse, but the seeker fails to establish a connection with the source. Find the source and establish oneself in the source. Meditated only for 15 days... the correct way & longing to know is the key. First I self-inquired about the source within and then started meditating on the source.

It is achievable through pratice of Kriya Yoga. Although initiation in Kriya Yoga is not given suddenly. You need to follow lessons for 8 - 9 months than you can apply for Kriya Yoga initiation. A similar experience happened to Annamalai swamigal when he was strongly hugged by his Guru Ramana Maharshi... Annamalai swamigal who was sincere and devoted to Maharishi asked him how he can attain higher level and பேரானந்தம் and a strong hug from his Guru, left him standing in the same place as if he was in a deep trance for several hours at the same place.. He then left the ashram and continuosly practiced to shed the self and his teachings are till now sought after now

Thank you, it's very late at night and my mind is currently very tiered . I will enjoy his wonderful description of his enlightenment experience. He craved to the marrow of his being to commune with the grace of Gods creation . His Master Knew it was time to show him as much as he could perceive , lest he head off to the mountains for a revelation to be given him at the highest spot on earth. His Master knew the mountain could not teach , or show him Gods Grace & Creation . However the Master could share what he himself had aspired too. Yoganandas heart desired commune with God and his greatest treasure was his commune with the Devine . He was a blessed man ,but his master was the blessing giver . It is very lonely at the top levels a human grace aspirations ,and its blessing is in its being perceived . Now since his first life changing experience , hopefully he has moved on to a better planet and plane of existence on that planet . Perhaps the Pleiades or Arcturus . Eh, who can say.
