Reflection on Surah Al-Baqarah, Verses 127-129
In these powerful verses, we witness Prophet Ibrahim (AS) and his son, Ismail (AS), raising the foundations of the Kaaba. Their prayer exemplifies humility and devotion:
Verse 127: Ibrahim and Ismail pray for their efforts to be accepted by Allah: "Our Lord, accept this from us. Indeed, You are the All-Hearing, the All-Knowing."
Verse 128: They seek submission for themselves and their descendants: "Our Lord, make us Muslims in submission to You, and from our descendants a Muslim community."
Verse 129: They ask for a prophet to guide their people: "Our Lord, raise among them a messenger who will recite to them Your revelations..."
These verses highlight the essence of Islamic devotion: humility in worship, responsibility for future generations, and the importance of seeking divine guidance. Ibrahim and Ismail’s prayers remind us to ask for Allah’s acceptance, guidance, and the preservation of faith across generations.
