@@SideTripLife Actually I just meant the airport, and was too lazy to look up the correct spelling for Suvarnabhumi so used the designator BKK. As far as the city is concerned, I absolutely love it and have spent many a day walking around exploring, including one day I walked over 30km! I love to run in Bang Kachao ... the hotter the better. I'll give this video you linked a look. I have stayed at the Sheraton on the riverside a few times and done a fair bit of exploring in the area.

Great video, Thanks. I have to check out the area if and when I get back there. I can’t believe the price of the flights from Bangkok. When I flew with my girl to Ao Nang, it was like $60 round trip each. That’s like flying from Phoenix (where I am) to Las Vegas for that price. Good deal.

Hello Robnoi, hope London's looking up! Surat Thani is about 450 kms from Hua Hin, which translates as an approx 6 hr drive (longer by train but can get a sleeper overnight). If it were me with say a month, would rent a cheap car (or bike) and stop at Prachuap Khiri Khan, Baan Grud/Krut, Bang Saphan Yai/Noi, Chumpon and every place in between as that entire coast is an absolute gem! (+ the BEST part, where I'm at now - vids to follow:)

Should have stated I'm a Canadian expat living in Bangkok so was already here (gratefully too I might add). Quarantine is still in effect for overseas arrivals currently and unfortunately we've also just had a 3rd wave outbreak. For the record, I planned this trip a while ago and travelled South a day before the current wave was reported. Wouldn't have gone had I known but grateful to be here with loads of space, miles of beach and few people about. More vids and updates to follow. Take care all

Hi Robert, this was pre-Songkran and pre-3rd wave, just! As stated in the airport scene, I travelled South a day before the current wave was reported. Wouldn't have gone had I known but grateful to be here with loads of space, miles of beach and few people about. More vids and updates to follow. Take care all

Both are fantastic destinations. Love Samui but Surat Thani is well worth a stopover and if you like beaches, some of the best in Thailand are just South of Surat Thani on the mainland (vids to follow)

This was the weekend before 3rd wave in Bangkok was announced and at a time when there were zero cases for months. Now all pubs are closed and must wear masks any time one is out anywhere.

In Surat Thani town a nice lil 9 holer Vibhavadi-Rangsit Golf Course and further afield toward beautiful Khao Sok is stunning Rajjaprabha Dam Golf Course. There may be others but those are 2 I know of.

H Eddie, Harbourfront Hotel, paid 600, in 'normal' times from 800+ depending on room. Will try to check out famous eateries but usually I seek out small out of the way places ;)
