Small correction! At 12:45 I haven’t multiplied 2√2 by 7 when simplifying 7√8. The answer for the first question should be 35 + 10√3 - 14√2 - 4√6 🤦🏼‍♂️ - sorry! Sometimes by brain goes into auto pilot while I’m recording!!

13:23 I think you forgot to times the 2root2 by 7 because there is 7 lots of them. So In the final answer you have -2root2 but you should have -14root2 if I’m not mistaken. Sorry if this is confusing.

I’m pleased that you made the small mistake at 12.45. Makes me feel forgiven when I drop a number or a sign etc if you do it occasionally too. I spotted it because I was working along with you, glad it wasn’t my imagination. Great vids all round anyway. I am in year 1 of a maths degree, I did A level maths years ago and it’s great to have such clear and easily accessible tutelage these days. hey, sorry quick question for question 13:24 the second one could I simplify 3√10 to 3√5 and 3√2 and then add them with the other surds. like 9√2 and the new 3√2 and likewise with the 3√5 and 5√5 so the total answer would be 15+12√2+8√5 just a questions thank you :))

Unfortunately these do not simplify as there are no square numbers that fit into the roots, and just like algebra where you can only combine 3x+2x and not 3x+2y, surds can only be added together when the ‘surd number’ is the same! Hope this helps 😁🙏🏼

That’s like asking how do you tell if a fraction is simplified, and you take a very similar approach, when you see a fraction, you have to decide if there is a common factor that goes into the numerator and denominator, with a surd you have to decide if there is a square number that goes into the number under the square root..
