NL's absolute refusal to make use of any of the stress reducing relationships and thereby losing an otherwise winnable run is peak egg content. I wonder if he ascends to have the same mindset with relationship skills as with getting masteries: just using the skills that give relationship bonuses

You're facing your fears. The bosses are based on the confession you sign at the start of each run. First is like denial or something. I think second might be resentment (I cant really remember). Im on the third one which is obsession.

Did someone tell NL riposte is bad or some shit? Why was he so opposed to using it?
@SlavicusVile Жыл бұрын
Got used to the Occultist jumping to the front every battle, pushing the Barbarian into position 2 and Highwayman to position 3. If the Highwayman used the riposte ability, it would bring him forward and put the Barbarian in position 3, which is really bad. Agree with you though, would have done a lot of work in the last few fights, especially when the Barbarian was anchored in position 1 and the riposte wouldn't have moved her

Aaand that boss dealt out a great showcase of the Darkest Dungeon "everything is going wrong and it feels like there's no way to do anything about it" special. Maybe it's just not for me, but when characters die permanently and that type of stuff can happen thanks to some bad RNG or one mistake, it makes it seem quite disheartening to play. In the first Darkest Dungeon, that situation was always one of the lowest lows in a game for me. A bossfight suddenly taking a MASSIVE downward swing into an unrecoverable state.
@xanderhall5010 Жыл бұрын
I agree that this is certainly an issue I have as well, losing lots of hard work due to rng. In this case however, NL died mainly because his Hellion had a meltdown at the beginning of the fight. Had he used some inn items on her to remove the stress he probably could have won. Even before that, his team composition has almost no stress heal and only an unreliable heal in Occultist

One thing I've noticed with this game is that sometimes "positive" rng can still screw you over which really doesn't feel very good (like when positive relationships and quirks get overwritten to something worse), but I'm otherwise loving it!
@TimGallois Жыл бұрын
Just in case you don't know, you can lock positive quirks at the Field Hospital to prevent them being overriden
@crawmslor5943 Жыл бұрын
Positive relationships also don't get overwritten, I'm pretty sure- they all reset when you hit an inn, which is when you get new ones anyway
@TheUltimateShade667 Жыл бұрын
@@crawmslor5943 yes, all relationships reset at the inn. It would be devastating if your negative relationship from your first venture lasted the next 2 hours of gameplay.

@filiecs3 Жыл бұрын
He was not "doing well", not anywhere close.
@3g3q5 Жыл бұрын
@@filiecs3 How would you have apporached the padlocks?
@filiecs3 Жыл бұрын
@@3g3q5 The problem isn't just how he approached the padlocks, it's how he managed the team the entire way to the boss as well. He went into the final battle with stress on his team, practically no useful combat items, a useless stagecoach item (when he had a useful one in his inventory), and the corpse-removal ability on the grave robber (which is useless in boss fights). In his team, he only had one heal that could target other characters and two characters that could not heal at all. His team also had no stress-healing abilities at all. During the fight, he paid little attention to the relationship bonuses, specifically the Dodge+ tokens he could have been stacking between the Grave Robber and the Highwayman with "Take Aim" and "Thrown Dagger". Those alone could have possibly netted him the win after his Hellion died, but he continued using a standard Pistol Shot instead of doing "Take Aim" first for the guaranteed crit. For comparison, I beat the Denial confession on my first try. The following confessions are MUCH harder. NL is entertaining as hell, don't get me wrong, but he is definitely not great at strategy because he hates reading and sitting still.
