So, now I'm looking for an even bigger tube to make these with. I think the more reflective area the better. I'm also going to move on to a, long-casting, fast-sinking, twitch bait to round out my beach fishing arsenal. Can't wait to get my feet in the sand and my jigs in the surf.

Look up high pressure testing stainless steel lines. I salvaged a bunch from a drilling rig I worked on in Alaska and I use them for lanyard holes on knives and hatchets. They are rated to 8000 psi so they are thick walled yet have a big enough hole for wire or weight. 3/8" dia with 3/32"wall thickness.

I live in Wisconsin, don't have much use for a surf lure but enjoyed watching you create these. Think I'll make a couple and try them out in Lake Superior nex spring. Thanks!

To make it a floating jig or semi floating try stuffing it with cork or that spray filler insulation stuff that will give it some buoyancy

It will be better to use them vertical saltwater jigging by changing the trebles, with assist jig hooks at the head

I've been planning to build something similar to your reef rocket after seeing some diy lures south of the border made from car antennas with lead in them. I'm using the drinking straws and will pour them full, similar to a sting silver we use in NC but I think it will go farther??

Sounds like a good plan

I love these! In the pictures at the end of the video, the green one looks like a baby alligator. You should definitely try that on bass in the spring.

I really like the idea and design. Looks like it would work great jigging for rock bass up in Alaska where I'm from. Jigs are super expensive up there and I end up losing a bunch fishing like that in the rocky bottom. Its really fun when you hook into a 50# halibut when using rock bass tackle. Thanks for the idea

Cool design. Question: If you left the split shots lose inside that way when you cast the lead can shift from the back to the front and maybe gain a little more distance? Thanks for the video
@EngineeredAngler4 жыл бұрын
I thought about putting a bunch of bb's and pinching the back shut...you get weight shift and rattle...I'm just enjoying coming up with different versions of these.

Hi there, just loved this video where you showed there is no limits for creativity!!!! I would like to know the total weight of each lure. After this lure, I just wonder what is gonna be your next design. Take care and thanks for the dedication in this enterprise.....

@@EngineeredAngler ahh copy that, I’ve been watching a lot of your videos and they are super informative! Spent the day working with the alumilight uv clear and I love it. I did try adding some resin dye to it and it seemed to cure differently this go around

Why lead shot and not melted lead? Just curious .
@EngineeredAngler4 жыл бұрын
Lead is a poison and while lead in its metal solid state is very difficult to absorb into the body, lead fumes coming from a lead melt pot goes directly to the longs and to the blood. I just don't feel the need to add lead to all the other chemicals I expose myself to...that's just me.
