SURFACE IRON YELLOWTAIL! Coronado Islands Fishing

This trip was filmed on a full day Coronado Islands trip aboard the San Diego out of Seaforth landing. It did not take us long to find yellowtail, and they were biting early! The first few schools we found were good grade 12-20 lb yellowtail that were eager to hit our surface irons and yo-yo jigs.

On a full day trip to the Coronado Islands do you have to have your passport or is that just for overnight trips?

Anytime you're fishing the Coronado Islands you'll need a passport, regardless of the trip length. I believe the law is whenever you're within 12 miles of Mexican land (coast or islands) you need a passport, but further offshore you don't need one

we got most of the fish at the rockpile, which is about 10 miles south of the islands

I'm going on the same boat to Coronado in 2 weeks. How long is it to the island?

it kind of depends where you're fishing. i think it's about 20 miles from mission bay to the north island, around 25 to the south island, and an additional 5 miles to the rockpile. so you're looking at like 2-3 hours of travel time.
