a cool little detail i loved about the animation in the song is Luisa's care and protection of Mirabel. not only guarding her from the random hazards and fixing her glasses, whenever she sees her little sister getting worried about her or scared, Luisa switches it up with the lighthearted dance sections to cheer Mirabel up.

I've thought ever since the first viewing that Surface Pressure is UNBELIEVABLY heartbreaking and the best song of Encanto. As much as you enjoyed this, Jessie's song, When Somebody Loves You in Toy Story 2 is also extremely heartbreaking

55555 This is by far my favorite Disney song EVER because 1 it is a total smash! 2 Luisa is the most reliable character in the movie and 3 I have felt what Luisa is going through and it just makes my heart happy to see this sort of community form around Luisa and the song Surface Pressure 🥲🥹

This whole movie is about how generational trauma affects people. Mr. Miranda is an emotionally evil genius, his lyrics are heart crushing, poinient, relatable, and beautiful.

I'm an only child, but this song came out at a time in which my business was starting to go under, meaning my husband and I would lose our main source of income; he'd be unemployed, since his main work was our business, and my second job was paying for everything, and it wasn't enough. We lost our apartment and had to move, there were days in which we literally had a can of tuna and some rice to share between the two of us for dinner. So, needless to say, when I watched the movie I was not prepared for this song and we had to pause the movie because I had a full-on teary breakdown after this. This song is SO good and so impactful. (Also, things are much better now: new job, new apartment, plus a book that's selling pretty well, and better work/life balance)
