Perhaps the donor connector was also missing a pin. Maybe he was just giving you an option if you ever run into a non available connector. You just got a free education on what to do if it was unavailable. Great video.

People are saying that both connectors are same. Who gave them this idea? It's Alex. I think he has different aim to replace the pin rather than replacing that connector. But we have learnt many things from him including replacing a single pin. No complain.

it's unfortunate that he didn't realize the donor connector was the exact same connector.. same size, same amount of pins same text on it.. acer 4d on the right and 1 on the left.

Your donor mobo seems to have thr same socket? Look at the label on the side. Most of the time, some sockets or connectors or components are the same for specific products in the same generation/time that these products were made.

A Hirose or Molex connector will fit, I believe. You just need the correct pitch. All other is quite similar.

That is exactly what I was thinking too... But maybe he did not have the ribbon cable since I understood customer had already disassembled it and sent basically only the logic board.

Seeig that the plastic was so easy to cut , i imagine that using heated air would melt the connector or displace the pins. Desoldering and soldering from one board to another just increases the risk. It would be a different matter with a brand new unsoldered connector.

I googled searched in the UK, "Surface pro 7 charging port". Seems to be two connectors joined by a cable, I assume one of those ends is the one you need.

Interestingly I just got a pro 5 battery pack to output voltage having refused to do so even though the individual cells were receiving charge. Now that I reassembled, it just shows me a vertical band of white light to my right when I attempt to turn it on, holding it in landscape mode. I have zero experience with these modern Microsoft tablets and I have no charger for it
