How alveoli collapse due to surface tension
@frostyfeet0345
@frostyfeet0345 4 ай бұрын
@@masoomchokro7472Due to surface tension the tiny water molecules between the air and water shrinks the alveoli to small round structure It further shrinks into smaller due to surface tension This is prevented by surfactant.

@@masoomchokro7472 The alveoli have got a thin film of water on their inner surface and the water molecules on the surface of the film experience a net inward pull due to unbalanced forces tending to acquire the shape of a sphere like rain drops, if allowed to do so the water film will try to have the least surface area (sphere) & will pull the inner surface of the alveoli from all directions tending to collapse it that's where a surfactant comes to rescue lowers the surface tension therefore lowering the tendency of the water film to collapse the alveoli
